A market intelligence agency, Morning Consult, conducted some https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/05/14/upshot/if-americans-can-find-north-korea-on-a-map-theyre-more-likely-to-prefer-diplomacy.html?_r=0for the New York Times to see if Americans can find North Korea on a map. This was the result:

36% were able to correctly identify the location of North Korea.

A little surprising, especially from the handful who didn't know the difference between land and water.

Why are you surprised by the results? I mean I am too. I am surprised 36% got it right. I expected 6%.
 
I'm also surprised it was so high also.

I remember the last one they did during the Ukraine and Crimea crisis. Some Americans thought Ukraine was in North America.
 
They have google maps who need geography :rolleyes:

Lol, a few actually said it was somewhere in Australia? Wouldn't be surprised when you have stuff like this going on over there:


 
They do similar surveys in other countries but not as often and they also get poor performance. Unless someone's passion or job is related to geography they do not care about it.
