Where do you think we'll be 100 years from now?

It's my random intrusive thought for today. Hehe

Think about how slowly human progress used to happen from 2 million years ago.

For thousands of years, change was very slow and gradual. It literally took 1000s of years between new inventions. We learned to use fire, developed agriculture, invented the wheel, and eventually built civilizations. Then came the Industrial Revolution, and suddenly the world started changing much faster.

After the internet became mainstream in the 1990s, it felt like something big happened every decade, smartphones, social media, cloud computing, AI...

Now it feels like there's a new breakthrough every week sometimes on daily basis.

Sometimes I wonder... are we living through the fastest period of human progress in history?

So where do you think we'll be 100 years from now?

On a low key I hate this fastest progress

@l0cke i feel that anxiety. in marketing and tech, if you step away for even a few weeks you feel like you behind on everything because some new tool or algo update dropped. 100 years is impossible to guess but short term i think we are going to see a massive pushback from people just wanting things to slow down. humans arent really wired to adapt this fast... we are going to see a lot of burnout before we get to 2124.

Humanity will be living in caves.

Our technological skills will be based on making fire and turning long sticks into spears.
Men who will dominate will be those who can hunt.
The women that will be popular will have wide hips to push out children.

If we're lucky,
The chimpanzees will not have been artificially evolved by ancient geneticists.
Today's genetically created dire wolves will be easy to domesticate.

- All the billionaires and their bootlicking enforcers will be on Mars threatening to turn off air for everyone who doesn't kiss their butts and say it tastes like candy.

Maybe we will have migrated to Mars... Good luck to that generation : D

Man, I feel this in my bones. It's like we've been on a slow stroll for 2 million years and now someone hit the hyperspeed button without asking if we wanted the upgrade.

The whiplash is real. My grandparents saw horses and buggies, then landed on the moon. I saw dial-up internet, and now I'm arguing with a chatbot that writes poetry better than I do. The jump from "we invented fire" taking 100,000 years to "we trained a neural network to deepfake your voice" taking 3 months is just... wild.

On a low key, I hate it too. Not the progress itself, but the pace. There's no time to digest anything. A new thing drops, you barely figure it out, and it's already obsolete because the next thing arrived. It's mentally exhausting, like trying to drink from a firehose that keeps getting higher water pressure.

As for 100 years from now? If we don't nuke ourselves into a parking lot or cook the planet, I think biology and digital tech will have fully merged. Probably no more "using" a device - it'll just be part of you. Maybe we'll finally cure aging and then create a whole new class of problems like "Great, now I have to work for 400 years." Also honestly think we'll have a massive anti-tech counter-movement, people living like it's 1750 just to feel sane. The Amish will be like "told you so."

But yeah, sometimes I just wanna pause the world and make a cup of tea without hearing about a new AI that can smell my thoughts.

Big Tech blows bullshit up the public's ass.

So, lot's of it is pure HYPE to attract investors, government subsidies and plebs who dream of Star Trek and having sex with the sexy green alien female.

We'll get perhaps 10% of what's promised and pay a fortune for it.

That's a difficult question to answer given the ever-evolving field of information technology.

I hope in 100 years preferably tomorrow that I can 3d print my own anime AI uwu robot which does NOTHING but yell UWU when I've been a good boy.

Hopefully dead, but for humanity, I hope Internet is no more.

Hey man, I get that thought too. Progress used to crawl for thousands of years, now it’s exploding every few months. Yeah, we’re probably in the fastest era ever.
In 100 years? AI everywhere, longer healthier lives, space colonies starting, and energy way cheaper. But damn, it’s exhausting sometimes.
You’re not alone hating the speed. What part bugs you most?

Not far from where we are now.
In last 25 years we have not moved much. Smart phones where kinda already in the market by 2001. What have we done in last 25 years not much to show for.
Movies are a measurement of where we are and what future will look like, where we wanna be.

Absolutely everything in life can be plotted on a graph. And, it's always A BELL CURVE.

Society and tech were climbing at the start of the 20th century and it reached it's peak at the end.

We're now on our way down.

Ironically, the movie Matrix was right... Human societies did peek in 1999.
