Where do you store your ideas?

- On my nokia E71
- Also have MS word docs, with bullet lists to store ideas (on comp)
- Use 'SugarSync' (better than Dropbox if u r using a symbian phone) to keep a backup and to sync files between phone & comp.

Also have thousands of pages of notes - working out the ideas, expanding on them etc etc. Then there are folders (on computer) for the ideas that I am working on right now, which can have several files - notepads, MS Word, mindmaps, research folders - expanding on the ideas - creating a blueprint and plan.

I too use physical notebooks for ideas or things that I might want to follow up with someday but that aren't on my immediate to-do list. I like to be able to sit down, lean back, and read through them. Sometimes I'll find an older idea that ties in with a new technology. I also like to be able to draw diagrams or add related side notes that are best done on paper. I use a different notebook for webinars and seminars.
 
Ive been using notepad on the computer but I should really start using the notes section on my iphone
 
I have my own personal assistant...
I just talk out loud and she writes and categorizes everything
then I just ask.. what the fuk was i suppose to do to make money..
and she tells me exactly.... and she is real cute too.... :)

just kidding..

I use a dry erase board and a real paper notepad.
I like writing stuff because I have found out that during
the actual physical act of writing something down...
you need to think and organize it a little before it goes to paper..
and that helps commit the information to memory too.
I find that I write something... and tend to remember it forever.

When i have a real good idea.. it goes on the dry erase board..
then as the day goes by.. i tend to see it and add to it
as the days go by... the idea matures.... and then its simpler
to execute.

fun to hear how everybody else processes and handles information.
 
Pieces of paper when I am on the move......when I seem to get my best ideas,and notebook at home.

I use a Moleskin for my daily to-do lists and thoughts. I also use Evernote to keep notes that I need to access from anywhere.
 
i just use a bunch of plain .txt files, each representing a separate IM category, similar to the forum sections.
more interesting ideas get added to the top of each file and less interesting ones get added to the bottom.
if i need a diagram i'll draw it in mspaint or something.

i almost never write anything down physically. it's too slow and i can't edit it afterwards. also can't use a search function to find things :P
only exception is if i get an idea and i'm not near a computer, i'll just jot it down on a piece of paper and then copy it into my computer later.
all of my notes are backed up in at least 2 different locations. ideas are truly the most valuable thing in this business :)

if i come across an interesting thread i'll make a local copy of it and save the link, so i can reference it later even if it gets moved to exec vip or the OP decides to delete it.

When I'm out, I write ideas on paper scraps. When I'm at my PC, I save them in KeePass (portable) as notes for empty passwords - that way it stay safe (encrypted), can be organised in folders or even saved in encrypted databases for different categories if they become huge in size, and lets me save urls as links, so if I want to open link I just click on it.
Now I'm thinking to transfer my bazillion bookmarks into KeePass as well - to have them with me everywhere. :)

I actually just write down all my ideas on notepad and when they expand in to more information and ideas i will create a folder for that idea in my "Future Ideas" folder :)
 
Hi all,
I write my stuff anywhere I can, my ideas come at random, uncontrolled, the back of my hand looks permanently tattooed n I put notes in my fone. I also have a to do list that I check/re-write morning, noon and night.

BTW - I'm willing keep everyone's ideas free of charge.

I will store them safely and I promise not to use them! lol

if you ever feel like having memory overflow, there's no better place to store your ideas than this very forum :p
i can see lots of blank pages here :)
 
I use Evernote, and have the Evernote application on my HTC Desire Z.
The phone has a full qwerty-keyboard, so it is quite fast to enter the ideas. When on Evernote I can access them from anywhere.

The mobile application even has support for pictures etc., which I find quite useful in circumstances where you see something inspiring.
