As others have said many times, this forum is one of the best places. Many gurus are full of crap. Even some companies we have hired are full of crap.
However I do have a couple of tips I'm using myself as a fellow noob:
- Save good guides you find somewhere in a file. If theyre really good, and they contain new information for you, summarize them in a couple of sentences
- You will stumble on definitions and topics that you have no clue about. Add them to a list and search for them on the forum. Read up on them and you will expand your knowledge
- Don't just read the guide, also read the comments. Especially when some of the guys with authority around here get into an argument with one another, you get a lot of valuable, nuanced information. You get to see different views on topics.
Reading stuff is way better than watching youtube videos. Some youtube videos are good, but don't go in-depth. Theyre aimed at a very broad, lazy public.
If you watch 2 hours of youtube videos, you won't follow half and you'll remember only a small percentage. If you read forums for 2 hours you'll go through waaay more info and you'll be more likely to remember and actually get it.
