free backlinks are useless, you need reputable sources to link to your site in order to rank

you can use sites like wordpress, blogs, etc comments where you can leave your link

Backlinks that you can get for free are hardly useful. They can be useful for diversity but nothing much after that.
You can curate a list of web2 platforms and create posts on them.

you might want to stick to paid links, they are better
