Where and How Do You Sell a Domain Exactly?

Greetings everyone.

I got an active 5-word .com domain that gets expired next year, with no special characters or numbers, that is very similar to a major clothing retailing brand.
Unfortunately I had to cancel my plans for a drop-shipping Japanese techwear clothing store due some poor logistics.. so I'm trying to find a way to sell back the domain and try to cut my losses as much as possible.

But anyways, my main questions are as follows:
1) What are really the best outreach platforms that I could use to put this domain on sell? Which ones could work best and are most active?
2) How do you transfer the Domain? Say, if someone happens to be willing to buy it 1-on-1?

Pretty new to this stuff so hopefully people here with domain flipping experience could help me maybe shed some light into this.

Kind regards to everyone!

Hey there,

It sounds like you’ve got a valuable domain, especially if it's similar to a well-known clothing brand.

For selling platforms, I’d recommend checking out places like Sedo, Dan.com, and Flippa. Those are pretty active, and you might get good visibility there. You could also try reaching out directly to potential buyers via LinkedIn or even through domain-specific groups on Facebook.

As for transferring the domain, it’s usually done through the registrar where the domain is currently registered. Once you find a buyer, you’ll need to unlock the domain, get an authorization code (also called an EPP code), and provide it to the buyer so they can initiate the transfer on their end. Some platforms, like Escrow.com, also offer secure transfer services to make sure both parties are protected during the transaction.

Good luck with the sale! Hope you can recover your costs.
