When Will Google Die?

If Google disappeared other companies would rise and we would all start over.
 
It IS possible. No company or business entity in the world is "too big to fail". Nothing lasts forever.

Look at the Roman Empire. Everyone who lived during that time would be in the delusional position that Rome would last forever, but what remains of the Empire now are ruins and tourist attractions (and some awesome movies like Gladiator, Spartacus, etc).
 
You know what really pisses me off? Is that actually, probably more than half the people here depend on Google for their income. Yet everyone wants to shoot them down. If Google disappears tomorrow I'll tell you what will happen, I will lose about 70% of my income (maybe not, people would still use other search engines but still). When one of you guys runs a company the size fo Google, please notify me.. I'll come and tell you every little thing that I don't like about your company and complain, when actually you are the one filling up my fridge.

Seriously, these threads are pathetic. If you think Google is so evil and crap, then start your own search engine and compete with them. You seem to know exactly how to provide the perfect search engine. Unless I am mistaken, Google is a private company who's sole objective is to grow and increase profits. If it has become a internet giant, its because it is f***ing good at providing helpful services that people like and use.

This Google hating has to stop, seriously.. it sounds like noobs who are frustrated because they can't rank #1 after 2 months of basic SEO, so they want to vent their frustration by hating on Google.
 
before Google there was Yahoo, back then I watch and listen music videos on Yahoo
Yahoo was the search engine I used, It helped me alot on my school back in the day.

Its all about money. Don't be fooled. Google is a Multi billion $$$$ Advertising Company.
Quality products? Give me a break!
Check your Gmail account and look around the Commercials. Open a Google search page and look at the top. You call fair that a hand of Google employess fg/#k up thousands of people over and over again, banning google Adsense accounts for nothing?
Small businesses are nulled by a zoo of algorithms of a search engine that serves only the "quality products" of their creators- their bank accounts.
Name one thing on this world that helps the community while it holds all the power. If we would have one phone operator to charge you 5$ / minute, you would HAVE to pay for it. Thank God there is Competition, Vodafone, Tim, etc.
I'm sure you would be more than happy to go to work in your Google car, on a Google highway, wearing Google clothes or any other "quality" products that serve NoOne and Nobody.

Ignorance is indeed bliss.

what google car? what are you talking about? Its very simple:
1) Google is a company that wants to make money
2) Google does whatever it wants
3) You take advantage of the situation to make your own money

Thank god there is competition.. umm.. this is a IM forum, do I really need to list Google's competitors?

Why do you think that Google owes you anything? Is there a place or a holy IM bible somewhere that says "Search engines musteth be like this or like that"? And Google is totally disrespecting this holy instructions manual?

It seems your knowledge on business is extremely thin. If Google is not helping your business, then find other ways to make money, but don't blame other people for your failure to make money. Take responsibility for your life and your business.

Nope, and if one day I lose that source of income, whatever the reason is, I will sit down, analyse what happened, what will happen and plan how to adapt my business strategy to the new circumstances.

Thanks God I don't focus my business around Google. Its the mistake all newcomers make when they enter the game. Lets look at it in another perspective. Tomorrow Google is dead. Larry Page decides to close the business and retire in Bahamas.

Where does that lead YOU? Where do You stand?

To be free means from my point of view to create your OWN brand, your OWN business and your OWN name. To make a business model in which you are in control. Free from Google, Shmoogle or any other Booble...
 
If/when/once Google bites the dust, that would benefit the internet community, as there would be capable competitors (Bing, Yahoo) in place to provide STABLE, mainly unchanging standard rules for web searching. Instead of one monopoly company consciously manipulating its search results to push itself simultaneously as an organic search engine AND as a directory, we'd be back to a situation where visitors used one set of rules to get visitors, and so we could then concentrate on monetizing sites without dances, boxes, slaps and who knows what else. And the world would be MUCH better off.
 
Ergh.. ok you win, i will not have an argument over the keyboard. Your different posts in this as well as in other threads are conflicting.

(right, you are just the knight in shining armor that is standing up for all the little guys who's MNS EMD got slapped).

Sorry but who ever said that Google needed to be fair? Let me tell you something, I hate Google, and I freakin hate it cos I'm living in China and it is insanely slow here. Google dying = the only way that will happen is if people stop using Google's services because they are unhappy with them. Not the current trend... (except with us blackhatters). So.. where does that leave us in terms of monetizing our businesses? are you gonna whine or are you going to make money?

Also, companies like google don't close.. again showing your lack of understanding of business practices for such large enterprises. However, the much more likely scenario is that my site is penalized by Google (which I have been very careful not to increase the risk for), then I would look to other methods of generating traffic and income.

At the moment Google is allowing me to make decent money. Why on earth would I not surf that wave to the full? I am in full control of my business model, making the most of opportunities that are in front of me. But the world is dynamic, and opportunities and threats come and go.

Did I not make that clear in one of my posts. I sit down and analyse circumstances to find new opportunities to make money. In the meantime, Google has been very helpful to me by increasing my brand awareness which would have been very difficult to do without the.

Period, if you still want to whine that I am an evil Google whore than do so but I will not reply, I'm just a youth trying to make money in current circumstances.

So true we have no choice but to buy a Google coke and site under the Google sun and enjoy... Because i cannot see Google dying in the next few years, its killing sites but not dying.
 
Even though google is forcing us to choose their products in many cases just like apple ,but got to appreciate their work too , its not like they got up and running the internet in just one day , especially got to appreciate their work on the 3d view going to every street and taking pictures and analyzing it. surely alot of work ,only a company like google with such large capital can pull it off.
 
Not one search engine has came close to the good results as google... until then google will live....
