When was the last time you took a "real" vacation?

In 2021. No Laptop, no mobile notifications, nothing, was just enjoying the time.

I don't do the long like two weeks or a month

But then,I find somewhere to rest about 1- 2 days weekly

No laptop. No checking stats. No "just one quick email."

Does such a thing even exist for a solopreneur? I think I've forgotten how to be a human.

I never had a opportunity for a vacation like you mentioned. i guess i don't have any in future too.

When you start working as a digital nomad, you lost this kind of vocation, but still can bring your laptop and go trip..

It seems that wouldn't happen if you were still in marketing. We wouldn't have New Year's Day, Christmas, or family holidays if our clients were still working and needed us

The "solopreneur trap" is real; the last time I truly unplugged was three years ago, and even then, I found myself checking Stripe notifications at dinner. In 2026, the only way to have a "real" vacation is to hire a part-time VA for the week or use high-level automation (like Make.com) to handle the daily fires, otherwise, you're just working from a different location.

It's been a minute, but my wife and I have some plans.

I'll still bring my laptop as I don't want my teammates to have to handle all I usually do here, but that's nothing but a thing.

Time off is important, but time off with work on your mind is just fine if you can handle things quickly.

Honestly, it’s rare—but unplugging for even a few hours can make a huge difference

last real vacation was 2019 and yeah i fully agree we forget how to be human but the "no checking stats" part i actually managed to crack by just... not having cell service for a week in the mountains. wasn't discipline, was geography. the laptop thing though, total lie i tell myself every time, it comes with me "just in case" and we both know what happens next.

ooo, for me that would have to be a couple of years. Over 1 year ago, I did stay off the internet for 2 days, but it was not as much as a real vacation.

yes its the best feeling to stay offline for a week

What's the point of being your own boss if you don't have vacations or free time?

Yes, we work hard, put in a lot of effort... but because we enjoy it. But without vacations, something's clearly wrong.

I have at least three vacations a year, but without checking a single email? No, my business is part of me, it's like a child. Does anyone abandon their child for days on end?

Never had that opportunity. Even if i am in vacation its been habituated to check laptops and mail so automatically mind moves.
