My new website has been indexed by google for over a week now, can I start link building?

I heard that I shouldn't start linking building until my site is already ranking on the serps. is that true? why?

In my experience, it doesn't matter. Heck, I start linkbuilding the site right after I put wordpress on it. I haven't been penalized ever. However, I do try my best to have a variety of backlinks to my site.

Just don't drop like 10000 links in one day.

Build slow and natural link building , 20 link per day good for SERP ...

I start link building straight away but like the others have said don't push it too much too soon.

If you were marketing your company, you'd promote it heavily on launch so I don't think Google would penalise too much at this.

Obviously their Algorithms look for patterns like thousands of links a day etc. I also don't believe in buying these link packages as they will most likely be seen as spam IMO.

hey...better result, you should create unique contents per day, and SEO friendly. Be careful not too scam of backlink. Google panda hates it

Go slow in the beginning, once the site is around 3 or 6 months old. Go ballistic.

No, start getting links ASAP but do it properly.

Do it manually, start from business classifieds where you can place your company (or imaginary company) name and link, then go to ad classifieds and then to forums.

If you build links too fast you will hit a filter (sandbox).
If you dont build any links you are unlikely to ever rank.

The sandbox is only an issue if you are making money, Google cannot take away traffic you dont have.

If your site is making money, then tread carefully to protect your income.

If your site is not making any money, then you are not really going to lose anything by building links to it, even if you hit a filter / penalty for a few months.

If your site does get sandboxed / filtered it will be temporary.

My approach is based on a "pipeline" of sites.

1) I build a new site 5 + pages of legit content
2) I add a very small number of links here and there over several months
3) After about a year I escalate that and start trying to rank the site more seriously, adding more content and more links, if it is showing some promise.

The point here is that it is easy to put new sites up but hard to rank them.

Once you get to a point where you can easily add new sites going in at one end, but work on ranking older sites coming out the other life is a lot easier.

As I said... work on a "pipeline" as opposed to working one site from scratch and then another. Of course this takes time to establish... but better to put up a few sites now looking to the future than to become obsessed with one site that will probably not earn anyway for several months.

This stuff takes time, be patent :)

Link building should be perfect and natural. Should not exist 20 link per a day.

According to me, it doesnt matter if your website is new, you just have to check two things, is your website fully built and the second one, just make 20-30 links per day initially don't go for building 1000 links in excitement of incearsing ranking for your new website.

Link building is one of the basic but powerful ways to grab people attention to your blog.

I've got a domain that's 5 years old, generally getting 600 hits a month. Only links were with directories and suppliers as it was a business website. On average the site was getting 600 hits a month.

I decided to try and rank the site for certain keywords, and increased the backlinks from 20 to about 70. I bought a Fiverr gig which was 10k backlinks and it looks like 50 stuck and have been indexed by G (took two weeks for indexing so it shows on G Webmaster tools). I also manual comment on high PR blogs and such. This is what people mean by diversity?

Is there any problem to carry on backlinking in this way? maybe 50 or so a week? It never had advertising before, I just put a couple adsense boxes in to try it out.

Link building is the basic step of SEO. Links can be generated by various methods by putting our content in quality lists of directories i.e. articles, bookmarks, links and search engine submission.

Hi,
I am agreed with what other says. In short, keep two things in mind :
1 > Go with only and only pure white hat techniques
2 > go slower, some quality links (20- 25 per day) are more than enough,

I wish you will got nice ranking in SERP. All the best.

I have two week old site, with a low competiton, 270k searches a month, for the main keyword i am on the 4th place, method scrapebox blast with a daily 5k backlinks for a week, couple of social sites, like twitter, facebook, digg, etc, ping the backlinks and youre good, you just keep building slow and you will get to first page in your dreams, thats my experience. :D

I usually start link building soon as I hit finish on my Wordpress. The other suggestions above are great too

You should build of you site very slowly because its a new site otherwise it can be deindex from google.
