I know the last real boom was in 2000's but When does everyone think the next big Leap is going to be? I wanna make sure I'm ready to ride the wave so to speak! lol

Yea these last couple years have been great for technology, such as cell phones becoming popular, cell phones with high speed internet services. Wireless internet is going to be hot. Pretty soon everyone and their mother will have a website (though this will probably be in like 30 years lol)

Unfortunately I would be classed as someone from the older generation, I disagree with what is being said here. It is possible to teach an old dog new tricks. I'm 57 and until 9 years ago I had never used the internet, now I'm on forums all over the place.Jacky said:

i am sure there are many answers to this question. but to be straightforward and not afraid to put my foot in my mouth:
1. something that has not been done before. a new trend or niche.
2. something to do with capturing new and or foriegn market users.
3. video. as video becomes more seemless, watching "choppy" videos and long downloads will eventually be replaced by higher quality video and quicker access times.
4. tv on the internet.

wimax or some sort of reliable wireless broadband.
more tablet pc, personalized pc portability. especially sense Solid State drives will be become a SFF storage and mainstream solution.

Application Security will be huge. More or less a bigger move in programming. Explicitly deny all and only allow users access to commands you allow. you would be surprised what you can do with "search" strings in databases by making it generate errors.
As far as the next big Boom? Nah, Internet is staying the same, just IT jobs are coming back and companies aren't hiring yoohoos any more with just a college degree.

Probably not another boom, more than more innovation of what the internet already is, a vast repository of data.
I put my money on video streaming decent content, for the simple reason that you will catch more eyeballs (and revenue dollars) with a short and informative and entertaining video about a product or service than anything else a website could offer.
During the boom, the web was literally being built, now its just being adjusted from time to time.

internet is all the time booming and blooming.. New opportunities are everywhere i'm sure of it. I believe people need to read/research on a deeper level what's going on in the internet and not only read their daily "techcrunch" etc. Reading only big mainstream tech-news will never give you the same insight into the future as reading a lot of smaller techy blogs...

I think the Next Boom in the internet has already happened. Social Networking and Web 2.0 . More People are using the Net now than ever. More clicks, more Traffic , more money
