When do card payment processors ban you for chargebacks?

Hi!

In case of a high percentage of chargebacks (3-5%) I know that card payment processors will ban your account.

My question is: after how long does this generally happen?

I am thinking that if you have a new account with a payment processor, make in the first month 100 sales and have 3 chargebacks, they don't ban you instantly, but let you a few months to see if you manage to lower the chargeback percentage?

What happens in all that time? They hold your money and you can't withdraw it?

If you have had these problems, please let me know how it went and which card payment processor you used.

Thank you!

Chargeback rate crossing 2% is always risky. If you receive 3 chargebacks in your first 100 sales, they'll review your account and if they deem it to be high risk with potentially more chargebacks then they'll ban your account. Some of them even refund all your orders before closing your account to save themselves from more chargebacks.

Isn't it better to just implement a good business practice, so you don't have to deal with so many chargebacks to begin with?
