When did "Newbies" get so .....

When I started online about 13 years ago we of course had newbies.

We've all been there and done that.

But lately ... especially since I've started making my own Money Making and Journey Threads I've seen a whole new level of stupidity it's untrue.

Nobody seems to know how to use Google (despite using it to get here).

I had a guy come into my "ANDROID APP" thread saying "the term app could mean anything including EXE and WEB APPLICATIONS" so be more specific and saying it like it was a "1 up" moment to him.

What happened in that 13 years that made "Newbies" go from just being people who were new and wanted to learn to people who frankly you've to remind to breath.

Anything computer related is full of (for a lack of a better word) nerds. And nerds hold arrogance to their trade very strong.

Since the removal of REP, the levels of stupidity have increased. Cause and effect?
 
The usual. A flood of WF and DP members to BHW that are lost on the internet.
 
13 years ago, there wasn't such an abundance of information, so you had to become really good at searching. I remember 15-20 years ago, trying to find WWF (the REAL WWF) pictures, and it was damn near impossible. You had to use AOL Keyword Search and sift through the piles of geocities sites, before MAYBE finding a couple pictures that you may have not already seen before..

Everything is so readily available now, that if you can't find it within the first 20 seconds of searching, people seem to assume it doesn't exist, or will be too hard to look for. It's fucking laziness.
 
i hear u mate ive been around since 1997 and the first thing i was
tough was how to use a search engine

the trolls of today dont wanna learn they just want u to tell them how
when where and why....

ask questions by all means but they want it on a plate this generation
personally i say fck em... u learn nothing by being spoon fed

Well, I try to help them out when I can, but I absolutely cannot stand it when it's so obvious that they didn't even TRY to find an answer before creating a new thread, and asking the same question that was asked 5 times within the last two days.
 
I think you should be more specific, what do you mean by newbies, do you mean people who have just joined the forum or people who joined the forum in 2007 but have only made one post, therefore still got the newbie title?

Oh and I think the levels of stupidity went up here when the Warrior Forum started charging a fee.

and agree with this as well. When people ask me stupid questions that can be found here or on Google by doing a simple search, I just stop replying and sometimes quit talking to them altogether. Waste of life. and a waste of my damn time.

I was very impressed and still am, with the way Kinlee has responded to almost every single question on her PPD Journey thread. Despite the fact that there are already answers to many of the people's questions within that thread. People choose the spoon.

I would have gone insane if I were Kin. fuck that lol

props to Kin for helping out the newbs though.

Does the OP mean, like, people that were online since before the days of the 1200 baud modem. Since before there was a World Wide Web, and that had to use Archie, Veronica, or Jughead to find BBS sites? I mean like in those days I operated a bulletin board called Midnight BBS. So named because it was only available between midnight and 6:00 am.

The glut of information today available on the web often makes it difficult to find usable and current information. I do not mind the normal question, I tend to dislike the continual spoon feeding of a person.
 
Yeah Completely Agree all the new members just don't want to learn any new things they just want money and that too in not less than 3 figure and barely wishes to lift up the index finger.

My opinion Newbies should not be allowed to Start a new thread as I can only see 2 trends coming
1) "Hello All" bullshit still many of the members post their to increase their Counts.
2) "Help me in making money" lol let me make some money myself too :D

Tell me some more tales from the past! I still have been reading through old "2600" magazines, it's always fun to see how things have changed.
