What's your take on alcohol?

Do You workout?

Because it worked for me.

I only drink alcohol to accompany people. Not regular. Because I keep track of what I am eating/drinking and it developed when I started seeing changes in my body after following a good workout routine.

I would suggest you to start going for runs in the morning. It will help you reduce stress.

For me,
I've been an entrepreneur since 14 years old. Very cheesy to say, but I have always been 'too successful' for my age, in terms of revenue.

Being responsible for money that surpasses the amount of yearly income for most at the age of 16 is very, very stressful.
That led me to chronic stress that I've now had for almost 4 years. That stress has led me to irreversible heart damage and I've now been diagnosed with a heart condition that will very likely end me before I turn 30, if I keep my current pace of working.

Ever since I turned 18, I have suppressed my stress with alcohol, and have found myself drinking on a Monday morning way too many times. I've found drinking to be a way to escape stress, work duties, and life in general.
Though, I'm now proud to say that I've been 'clean' of alcohol for a few weeks now.

If you've ever had any problems with alcohol and have been able to quit it, how did you do it?
What's your take on the stuff?
The first step to quiting is admitting it is an issue. So you are on the right track. Congratulations for that.

Personally from experience. Smoking, alcohol, drugs aren't stress busters in the long run. They only impair thinking straight.

Go to a AA meeting in your area. I kind of had an excellent start in my career, good Bschool, travelled the world at a young age, girlfriend, multiple flings at a young age from 17-22. Life took a downward spiral when I hit 22 and it was like that till I reached 25 when i finally cleaned up

I started doing NA meetings, it really helped me that time. Clean for 10+ years now.

So the best way to clean up is doing meetings(AA/NA) or joining support groups.

Good luck

Alcohol isn't very good on the heart, the mind, the brain or any other organ for that matter. Look out out for healthier de-stressor alternatives. There's plenty out there, just find something that sticks to you personally.

According to the rules, I'm not allowed to say why I don't touch alcohol. (Or drugs, etc)

alcohol is okay in moderation. using it for self-medication (ie stress relief) is not good. that's an unhealthy crutch. not good for the body nor the mind either. honestly i've been there, and worse.. i started in IM at age 13 too, so quite similar to you. it really does change ya a bit! now i've learned it's best to not indulge too much, if at all. if you're unable to moderate that's okay too. no shame in realizing that. that just means you have to find something else, and there are other things you can fill yourself with for stress relief. i like going hiking and biking - exercise and smelling spring-time smells. i like going to see live music and pretending i can dance. all of that pulls me out of my own mind and out of business. if you still want to manage with substances, i'd frankly recommend a light dose of mushrooms from time to time. that has worked too, with the added benifit of some life introspection which may help elsewhere. at this point i feel there's little point to this internet money stuff, success, etc if you don't have your health - if you can't enjoy it. take care of yourself! i cut way back on my drinking by deciding to do so. a friend gave me a bottle of antabuse but i didn't have to take it. the switch flipped and stuck. i went from drinking too much each day to only a few beers on the weekend. for heroin it took going to a methadone clinic for years to change. i say all this transparently to you and others to tell yall it's possible. gotta ask yourself: am i tired enough of the bullshit to change? also, if you're at all like me and deal with mental health issues, autism, etc then you need to get a handle on that too. the two tend to feed one another. much love BHW.

I drink alcohol and when i feel stressed I drink wisky but are zips that glass last 3 or 4 hours is not like in 30 minutes I'm filling the glass again, as everything if you do it too much you could damage your health and drinking alcohol everyday is not good too, try to exercise go and walkto release some stress, sit on a park with your headphones and just wathc people pass by for a couple of minutes just to stop thinking in your work, set a daily walking routine no fast just enjoy the day you will see a diference.

Fools go to benzodiazepines as an alternative.

Don't do it.

Ask psychiatrist about pregabaline and hydroxyzine. These sre excellent alcohol alternatives.

If you can control your limit, i think it not too bad, it make people fall in the situation "peaceful" thinking

You need to see a doctor for heart condition and you need to see a psychiatrist for too much stress.
Don't self medicate with alcohol.

Alcohol is not very halal mode! Therefore I desist from it

personally i reward myself on the weekends with a couple drinks, sometimes i go crazy . makes me wanna work harder on mondays

I was drinking a lot, when I say a lot I mean a lot!

In March 2013, I found out that I was going to become a father, from that moment until today, no alcohol in any form entered my body.

I'm proud of that, I have a couple of old (once upon a time) friends that I see, they're married, they have children/s, they get salaries and put it "all in" on casino machines, and sh** like that!

If a man doesn't know how to drink, he shouldn't drink, if a man knows how to drink like my father for example, he still drinks to this day, but I have NEVER seen that man drunk in his 63 years, because he drank just as much as he should have.

The moment he feels that the next cup or bottle is "crucial", that's the moment when most people continue to drink as long as they can, he stops, that's incredible power and mindset to do all that for such a long period!

Smart people will understand the point... I wish everyone luck.

If you exercise, try bodybuilding. It's fun.

Don't do squats and deadlifts for fun. Do barbell exercises only if you're experienced with dumbbells.

I found it's optimal.
^^^ this

Hard to hurt yourself lifting low weight dumbbells. Do 20 reps not 5, super slow, it will seem easy at first but by rep 15 it’s gonna hurt in a good way.

The dose is the poison. There is nothing wrong with alcohol itself. In fact, humans evolved to be able to drink it https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/ar...es of evidence, even in deep evolutionary time.

I see it as a culinary experience. I love a good whiskey, and in a previous career I managed a bar, trained bartenders, did seminars, wrote a few books, etc.

I don't see any problem with using it as a way to relieve stress or blow off steam. I'd argue it's safer doing that then some other things people do, like boxing.

You should ask alcohol about his take on me, not the other way around. I don't know why I'm still drinking.

Congrats for going sober tho.
