Just a few days ago I dove into what seemed like a routine wordpress plugin update on a clients website, it led me to a high-stakes rescue mission with a complete digital blackout.

Nineteen minutes that felt like nineteen years of troubleshooting adrenaline, and finally, the website was up and running again.

Now its your turn, whats your most intense work story?

It´s fun to feel that you are alive is it not, we live for crazy moments like this and when it´s all over we have a happy client that hopefully had no clue what happened .. =)

Well done.

The thing with restoration points, is, they're only useful if you've got an established connection with the site. Not if they break at the same time as the website :anyway:

This is what makes us learn and mitigate the risk next time, learning is fun.

Ooh, I forgot to tell you about the craziest work story, posted about it here before so I´ll just copy and paste it again here.

I once made a simple nice website for a client coded in Codeigniter framework back in 2007, easy job took total 2-3 days, charged him around $2500 for it, 6-7 month later he hired a newbie coder that did not know how Codeigniter worked or what it was, the client then wanted to sue me for making up my own coding language .. Haha .. It worked out well later and he dropped the suing thoughts .. This was a high earning client in his 60s .. So better lookout for those folks .. =)

I might or might not putting my sis to create a profile on a freelancer platform, put her a nice profile pic, and acted as I am her for a couple of years to get clients. Fun times!

A year ago I was on a business trip abroad where there were riots and people were throwing around incendiary bombs and demonstrating in trucks on the road.

My clients ask me one side of every day: why isn't the project moving forward?

Until I photographed the helicopter in the sky. I told her it was the army, over my head.

U still work in programming ? if yes may i ask what languages/frameworks you have some good success with, i know nodejs, python, php... and many stuff but currently i'm looking for something that is more like less known but with some good client base, any info would be greatly appreciated

I seen this post, after seeing a translated comment on a LinkedIn post about:

"Just today we booked 60 clients for a company we work with", you know how that post goes...

I was told(while getting responses, a few good, a few bad) that I have to incentivize the reader,

I incentivized them by talking to them like a person and got day long chats out of it.

I got a good amount of abuse telling people what I could bring them and how fast...

Another white wall of text prompted by the LinkedIn king TB

-went to get smokes, on my cycle I remembered an Indian guy I trained in taking pictures with kids in an estate he was working

That has to be most intense, angry doesn't = intense most times

Im the only IT contact for a whole site. About 400 people. Fortune 100 company. Doing fiber upgrade. Ive been with the company for about 45 days. Usually they have security escort the guys doing the upgrade.

Upgrade done and buildings are down. This is about 9 hours in. So i start making calls but get this. The idiot that originally ran the fiber didnt do homeruns to each buildings. I dont know the name of the topology they used but there were 7 buildings and each one connected to the next. So if 1 connection went down all the buildings after the break woukd be down too.

28 hours later its fixed

I have done my fair share as well. The worst of them was a db corruption in a mysql server. I had to pay a freelancer to restore it, after spending sleepless nights for a week easily. But yeah, because I use separate staging/dev environments, these stuffs generally do not happen. :p

That's a good reason!

I wish this was a random reason I made up, but this is really happening, people destroying highways with trucks, screaming, shooting, bombs, police cars sounding, explosion sounds, nearby car alarms ....:weep::weep::weep:

It was in 40° weather and it was Ramadan, people didn't eat or drink during the day and workers couldn't work.
