If you know your IQ, what is it? Curious to see everyones IQ here.

Also mention how you got the number, whether legit professional test or just an online quiz

I did an online test a long time ago. Is there a free test site to recommend?
 
I don't think you're going to get a straight answer from many here as anyone who posts a score that's considered too high is only going to get mocked because it won't be believed, and anyone who posts a score that's considered too low is going to be mocked for being "stupid". Either way, you're going to get mocked.

Anyway, I won't share the results because they don't matter, but I mentioned having been properly tested several times before in a post I made in 2016 and I talked about with another member here that same year. At the time, I didn't know what the score was back then as the actual score was not important, although I did end up finding the documents my mother kept and left with me saying what it was about a couple of years ago. Something I didn't mention in that post is that I was also tested before that point when I was around 5 years old for psychiatric reasons.

You might find it interesting that when I scored vastly differently when I took the test at 5 years of ages than when I took the test at 10. There are several reasons for this, but the main reason is because the test I was given for the GATE program at 10 had a lower ceiling, presumably because it was for children. If you hit the ceiling for the test, the score is considered inaccurate and you're given the test again (and again if you keep scoring to close to the ceiling) to make sure it's not a fluke. In the case of the GATE program, scoring too close to the the ceiling is obviously high enough to get in, but to find your actual score, they'll sometimes offer to proctor an adult IQ test that has a higher ceiling (something around 160 or 180, depending on the test).

I find these tests a little absurd for many reasons, but also because a 140 on one test can be 180 on another test. I've also known others who have scored far lower than me on similar tests perform much better than I have in different academic areas. It just doesn't mean anything, but some people place a lot of importance on it.

Speaking of which, I actually felt bad for my youngest sister because she was administered an IQ test when she was 8 years old. My mother thought she was going to score well on it because I did when I was a kid. My sister was sad because she did not meet that threshold for the GATE program because she 'only' scored a 112. I told her that she scored better than average, but it doesn't mean anything at the end of the day. She's doing better in school than I did, probably because she's not as arrogant as I am, but also because she's much more receptive to learning from others. That trait right there is far better than what some IQ test says, and she shouldn't worry about the score.
 
IMO IQ is pseudo science.

A person's ability to be successful in life goes beyond mental acuity, and should factor things like ability to manage their emotions, mental space and even their own physical health.

Those IQ tests are not only culturally biased, but just test how good someone is at taking tests.

You could pretty much answer b for every question and have a good chance of scoring above average.

I don't care about such tests, nor should you.

IQ testing was a thing 100 years ago when it actually provided something useful to the schooling system - it helped struggling kids to receive more help.

+ my personal opinion.

IQ testing is just plain stupid most of the time, and it shouldn’t be done even nearly as much as it is done currently.

And this is coming from someone who was a so-called ’child genius’.
Scoring high on these tests made my younger life (1st - 9th grade) a living hell.
You’re constantly put on a pedestal by absolutely everyone, and you’re also always expected to perform flawlessly on everything.
The amount of pressure a 7+ year old kid can take is only so much and very easily ends up in depression.


One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life must have been the time when I stopped caring about other peoples’ expectations and deciding to not dedicate my whole life to academics.

That is exactly the issue I experienced. Even the people who don't put you on a pedestal will scrutnise everything you do to look for reasons why the test results must be inaccurate. You spell one thing wrong, you make one grammar mistake, get anything lower than 95% in a class, find the solution to an equation too slowly; and you get met with that same snide remark: "Guess you're not so smart after all, huh boy?"

Oh yeah, 100%.

A flood of bad memories just rolled back to my mind.
And the worst of it all was that when you were that age when your brain hasn’t been even halfway developed and you’re so easily influenced/moulded by other peoples’ opinions.
When you’re being scrutinized on everything you do at all times at that age, you actually start believing it all.

I remember times when I used to cry and feel bad about myself for months when I made a single mistake in a 4-page math test.
It didn’t matter one bit if the median score of the class on the math test was 25 out of 45.
You were still being blamed for scoring 44/45.
’How in the world do you make a mistake that simple?’

I’m fortunate that I didn’t fall into suicidal thoughts, but still having extremely dark thoughts at the age of ~10 should ring some bells.


All because of a stupid paper test.
Should just let kids be kids and not mould them into something that they are too young to handle.
 
I got a 90 a long time ago, I remember I was young, a profesional checked me saying that I was not that smart, but surprise surprise, I was always between the 3 smart of the class at university always got good grades with little effort, I think that test was fake and they were trying to fill a quota with me, some time later I made a internet test 98 that one I believe is more my level is not that high and 98 is a regular IQ my poit is and with the average no below the average :D :oops:
