Hello! And welcome to my thread on how to succeed on Pinterest.
Most of these tips will be white hat, because I am a mostly white hat blogger. There will be one black hat tip, though.
Why Am I Making This Thread?
To avoid writing a blog post, mostly. And to help some people.
And because I hate how Pinterest's new algorithm works. Maybe if some of you truly black hat users find a way to exploit the new system, they'll change to an algorithm that sucks less ass.
Fresh Pins Only
Repinning on your own account does nothing.
Repins from other business accounts do nothing.
Here is my black hat tip: Repins from normal user accounts are the only repins that matter. If you're going to bot accounts, stick to personal accounts.
What is a fresh pin? A fresh pin is a brand new image, every time.
The title can be the same. The URL can be the same. The description can be the same.
But the image must be different. Different text on the image. Different colors. Edit the image so that it is different from other ones you have used before.
Yes, you can still use stock images. Just use them in a design.
Text On Images
The text on your pins should be in big, readable fonts. This is because Pinterest's algorithm can read text on images.
Only Pin Your Content
There is no benefit of repinning content from other users. Just don't bother.
Some Bloggers Recommend Manual Pinning
I still use a popular scheduler (I won't mention the name because I'm not selling anything on BHW and never will sell anything here. I don't want to be accused of shilling).
But some bloggers are seeing great success with manually pinning right on Pinterest.
They're also saying Pinterest's built in scheduler doesn't have the same power as pinning in real time on Pinterest.
Give it a shot and see how it works for you.
Description Keyword Stuffing Still Works
Use all 500 characters in your description where possible. Try to reach as many different kinds of keywords as you can with your description, too.
And use your most important keywords in the title of your pins.
Try Out Video Pins And Story Pins
Bloggers freaking hate story pins. Pinterest is doing a crap job with them, and they don't even have the ability to link to your site.
BUT... they seem to get a lot of impressions and might help you grow your followers.
So try them if you have the option. They're still in beta and I hope they die in a fire, but you never know.
Aim To Get Comments On Your Pins
Comments from real users, not business accounts, will make your pins viral.
So if you can, focus on making your pins something people will want to comment on.
