Everyone knows that on Instagram you have the possibility to promote any existing post on your page. They claim that promoting that post you could increase significantly the reach of the post and therefore get more likes and engagement.

But, recently I discovered that when you promote a post on Instagram, Instagram (Facebook) actually creates a copy of your post and all the engagement that this post gets via promotion doesn't add to the organic growth of the post.

Does anyone know if there is any possibility to add the likes obtained from the promotion to the original post? in Facebook I think that the data is added to the organic post but in Instagram is not the same thing, or am I wrong?

Where do you see that? I've never seen a difference between organic likes and ads like (on Instagram). I'd like to see that if there is a way to do that.

Instagram just makes a copy of your post and all the likes you get from promotion are not taken into account by Instagram. So if you promote a post and it gets 3k likes, it would appear that the post has received that amount of likes but it does not rank on hashtags because Instagram doesnt consider those likes (the ones obtained via promotion).

Oh ok. Then the only point would be for you to increase your ER and potentially charge more for promotions. Doesn't seem to make much sense to promote when you put it like this :/

I dont think you understand what Im talking about... Im talking about promotions via Facebook Ads, when you pay facebook to advertise an existing post... ...

I think I do. You're talking about doing a paid promotion on one of your posts. By doing that you'd get more likes, thus a higher engagement rate that's what I'm saying. I'm not saying it's useful because it looks like your goal is to get as many likes as possible in the first minutes of the post as to rank on Hashtags.

I don't know much more about the subject, thus I was just saying that if it's the case that likes are separated then you're right in saying that they are almost useless. Sorry for not being able to help you.
