I get you're supposed to link bank (in your article) to other authoritative relevant sites but what's the point of doing so?

I understand it looks more natural but is that the only reason?

It should look like a natural and relevant occurance, or don't do it at all. If you are quoting or are referring to something the authority site explains, then do it -- quote or refer and link to the page so that it makes sense to the visitor (incl. Human and g.bot).
 
That put some more value and info from authority site......
 
Alright thanks! And I suppose Amazon affiliates have an advantage because they consistently link back to Amazon?

One special advantage to the ama.aff is that if there happens a sale because of the special link, there can happen a little financial benefit! :)
 
None, you can just pay 1000s for the link instead of using tact.
 
Why would you even link out to someone else? I want the visitor to click my affiliate links or my advertisement - not leave my site and click someone else's links and ads.

The point is that you give them free backlink and send them free traffic... I never do that on any of my sites if not making me money.
 
Hmm... What would happen if those authority sites stopped all the OB links from their comments section? They would be called shellfish monsters, wouldn't they?
