Would anyone recommend the usual places like elance and guru, or are there more specialized places?

I have a few ideas for a plugin that I would like to have made reality, if not for commercial intent, then my own specific purposes.

Thanks and good luck out there.

It happens... You should clearly explain what you are looking in your project... One time i asked some one to make a simple plugin which will tell me ctr on any post... I mean no of times click on my outgoing link on that post... Script was already counting post views so they had to count only clicks... It was not simple, little complex but still OK. What happend person who started coding finally made a script which will not only count clicks but also on which link if i have more then 1 link on that post, It also started tracking referral and many more things... Coding which should have taken him few hours went ahead and took more then 3-4 days... It was because i was not clear what i wanted... Some one who is not in IM and just doing coding will get carried away always like this...

LOL some times back i asked for geoip script which will redirect visitors to different offers based on their IP, i got bids ranging from 200-1500 bucks and finally got it from some one for 20 bucks and with in 1 hour... So try to explain as best as you can... that will help you in getting some realistic bids...

You might try the "Hire A Freelancer" section here on the forum,
but make sure he/she has some previous examples to show you first.

    Cheers!

I usually contact the developers directly. I look at plugins that look nice and perform well and ask the developers if they are interested in creating a new plugin. It obviously depends largely on your requirements and the budget at hand. Freelancing sites might be a good idea as well.
