whats the best tool to hide your IP?

privoxy only hides your ip if you install it on a server, i hope you know that ;)

do you guys recommend to buy hide my ip???

To be honest i have tried hacked versions many times and it works for a short time so yea for sure if you are serious then pay a few bux for a good service.
Its a good tool in my opinion.

I have just get myself a hide-my-ip software. so far, it works fine. except there are couples of IPs that doen't really hide your IP at all.
It happens 3-4 times a day. For a safety purposes, you might want to check out the IPs first at
Code:
http://checkmyip.com/
everytime you refresh the IP.

other than that, the software is very easy to use.

someone earlier on has posted hide my ip software under members download section.

well...you also can consider to use proxy.org

hope it helps you..;)

Remember what I posted earlier, a proxy from proxy.org will NOT hide your ip more than a bit.
Webproxies are good to unblock websites from schools and similar but they are not good for SEO and they are a desaster if you do anything illegal (like faking clicks)

Best is socks protocol, next high anonymity http proxies. (I ignore minorities like vpn here, it's not useful for a lot of identities)

there are some proxy from proxy.org is anonymus...not ALL are transparent.

I have the full, registered version of HideMyIP. I got it free when they were having a promotion a few month ago. Sign up for blank and get HideMyIP free or something like that. I ALWAYS check my IP, and although it seems to be working many times it's not secure. I've been caught using it numerous times, thank goodness I use my air card for a further level of protection. Avoid HideMyIP.

vivica...i dont often use hidemyip...now i know your feedback..thanks for that... i guess got to try other ways...

Even if it were working well, it has blacklisted proxies like most comercial proxy providers.
Running a legal proxy means you will get blacklisted soon, that's the problem they all have to fight with. And if they use a botnet to get random IPs they are definitly not trustworthy and putting you at risk.
The next problem is that a proxy on a hosted location can easily identified as proxy, often through the hostname.

When you promote an important website or generate clicks,votes or traffic then you should use a good fake identity.
That includes:
* an IP that looks like a real person
* no old cookies
* a random browser useragent
* humanlike behaviour

Of course this is less important if you don't do illegal stuff (like fake clicks) and promote a site that's not expected to last long.

Are you saying that I could put a proxy server on one of my own hosting packages (so it would look like I my home's IP is actually my hosting company's IP) but that a website would quickly realize it anyway so there's no point (they'd just ban your hosting's IP?)

Can you elaborate on this? I'm really looking to not just hide my IP, but also make my actions look very human like (I'm looking to create tons of accounts and pages at Web2.0 properties). Since this is my career and not just a "make a few extra bucks pipe dream" feel free to suggest anything that I would need in order to accomplish this regardless of the price or "pain in the a$$" factor.

When you install a proxy on your hosted server it is an obvious proxy.
If you keep cookies and useragent clean then they can not see it's you, but they see it's not a home internet user with the first blink. Just think about it yourself, if you see dataxx1.professionalhosting.com in your database/log do you think it's someone from home ?;)
Nah it must look like dsl-iprev-122.31.75.208-company.net as example, I'm sure you got what I mean ;)
This is important as soon as your account is checked by any supervisor, as example because it was flagged or reported or randomly checked or your statistical behaviour made some alarm trigger.
If they see you use the acc through a hosted server it's likely they will add 1+1 = 2

I'll make it short, you can find a lot info how to hide your identity correctly on cloakfish.com (howto section, and infos on frontpage and at "facts" in features page.
IP .. we got that
cookies: there are session cookies, domain cookies, path cookies
All of those are used to keep temporarily data on your computer (short time or forever)
you need to clean that up, otherwise you use a new ip and as soon as you open the webpage their scripts will identify you as your previous login. you now create a new login, it probably works but they now know you have two accounts.

Useragent - this is a string sent by your browser, it is a well working identify mark. if you create a lot of accounts using the same useragent it is likely they will catch you.
That's like a birthday date, a few people might have the same date, but if you get loads of people having one special date it's a bit weird, no ?;)
