check for example Elementor tool or other site building plugins, you can build everything
HATE:
-popularity, because of that you need to really invest $500-$1000 in security plugins to monitor your website, without it, it's only matter of time

The WordPress community is huge. Finding answers to any issues you have is easy and there are tons of plugins for anything you'll ever need.
I like it since I sell websites and 9/10 times the buyers aren't interested in buying unless its WordPress. I really like Hugo personally.

It's basically idiot prove nothing much goes wrong with it for example I read before average 12 old kid can make a website from it.
For example in the past to make a website meant you have to understand full HTML meaning it would require time and effort which many people could not but Wordpress means you could be not able to do or read any HTML and still make a good website.
You can get plugin which can do anything more less website wise more less.
Changing a theme can be done by a click of mouse more less .
The only problem or issue I say with Wordpress it's often not that secure but except for that's pretty great.

WordPress had success because it is easy to create a website with a few clicks and plenty of plugins and themes. Myself I don't like it. On long term, you will see that you will spend lots of money and have a shit website. Better to build one from scratch as you like it.

LOL if there's one opensource project I hate, that would be WP. It makes you lazy and you never learn proper web development. I would rather suggest something like Laravel or yii2 framework for starting a new project.@Gogol loves it! He's the no. 1 guru when it comes to WordPress

Newbies don't research for CMS. They check a few blogposts or a few tutorials on YouTube and most of them eventually leads them to WordPress. Apart from that, most beginner-level issues have a ton of people offering help.

Let's say yii2 vs wp.
Nah, you would win. I was comparing it with other basic popular tools. Yii2 looks high tech.
I haven't tried yii2 yet and on their website, the command prompt and the lines of code would scare half of the people getting started so I think even it's faster and easy to learn, they aren't portraying it like that.
Sounds like being easy and well known is the prevailing reason which I did expect. I use a Laravel CMS (not promoting or linking) which is great at being a CMS (pages) but not so great with posts.
I'm working on something to fill the void which I'll talk about when I'm finished and have jr VIP because I'm not here to get banned, but it's useful hearing thoughts about WordPress as I am pretty certain what I have is better. High hopes anyway. The abundance of themes thing will be an issue for a while but Devs who know twig will like it

Awkward to develop? It's super easy, 10x times easier than any other framework. Some years ago I was very rusty and thanks to WP I went back to the programming zone.
The only issue, as it has been already stated, is the vulnerabilities and the huge maintenance it requires if you use it fast and furious.
I've had sites self-developed up and running for 10+years even with an obsolete PHP 5.2 and without any single bit of maintenance without issues.
But WP as soon as you stop updating plugin specially the famous ones, a vulnerability appers, and you have it hacked in a couple of weeks.
On the other side, I have updated sites with 12 years based on WP to the latest version without a hassle, but those pages self-developed ages ago, have been turned officially deprecated, because I don't have the time to update that massive amount of code anymore
So basically, nowadays for 9 out of 10 scenarios I may choose Wordpress. 50% of the internet is based on WP and is for a reason.
