Beginners must focus on identifying what it truly needs to improve rankings. The first step is to diagnose the real bottleneck that is preventing growth.

For example:
New site with no authority = Focus on building high-quality backlinks
Lack of topical depth = Develop structured content clusters
Toxic backlinks = Audit and disavow harmful links

The key is to identify what is holding your site back and address it strategically.
Simply adding more links, publishing more blogs, or buying additional SEO packages will not produce results if the core issue remains unresolved.

Also, avoid trying to fix everything at once.

Your content is 99% of your work. SEO is 1%. (google has a bot that will put even the worst built site at the top of rankings, as long as its half decent, and does the job VERY well its meant to as a content & interactivity portal) You don't need to spend more than 1 hour every month at most on SEO. Your internal SEO is easy and just common sense good organization, titles and descriptions. Your external SEO is for others to work on not you. Let people LOVE linking to your site, and talking about you. Give them something to talk about.

Probably the first thing you should focus on is SEO if you’re not using ads or other ways to promote your site. Create more useful content and make sure you provide real value and a great experience for your users.

Beginners target high volume terms but write generic/mismatched content, leading to high bounce rates and deindexing. Analyze top 3 results first, then create better versions.

The best would be to start with low competition long tail keywords, well researched useful content.
 
Keywords alone don’t win anymore. Content has to meet search intent, or search engines will eventually replace it with something more useful.
 
Trying to do everything at once. Beginners usually chase keywords, links, and tools without fixing basics like search intent, site structure, and content quality. Getting the foundation wrong slows everything later.
