I'm not sure it's that easy. Agreed you want to try and mimic a human user (though a hyper active one).
But on my personal acc (no bot just personal friends and my own interests) I follow around 150 accounts. I probably add a new account... Once a week?! Watch it for a few days, if I like the content it stays. I might save up some unfollows for a purge... 4 or 5? I'll admit that my personal acc is probably very inactive.
But contrast that with the hundreds and hundreds of un/follow that we are talking about here... If I was Insta that's how I would find us.
Also flagging is an overt deterrent which we know about. But limiting your exposure is so much smarter. The average user, if they were to trigger it, probably wouldn't know (they arnt counting the figures like on here). And those that do realise... are probably botting.
Instagram in the end want normal organic accounts that behave. Removing the benifit of un/follow methods makes sense.
It will be interesting to see if vapemonkey has come to the same conclusion later on...

I don't work with videos, but I do have seen some smaller accounts with total video blowups. Talking about 100k+ views and a shitload of likes in a 2 hours timespan.

I do have a theory, which I'm not disclosing yet, but I'm pretty sure that no botted account is on the right side at the moment.

It's not a coincidence that this all started since Monday for the winnners and loosers.

I also found out I got less followers but engagement was even worse, got like 50-70% of normal.
I post both videos and photos but what I found out that alot of the times when I went to the explorer page my phone started to lagg or even close instagram. It might be my phone (which sucks) but idk

Sorry bobo, I skimmed that table and assumed the dates were running the other way! Ya that kinda throws my idea out the window.

Noooob question: where did you get that table from? Looks like an online source. I'm logging mine in excel right now :(

I do not use follow/unfollow method or conventional bots which is why I've been able to retain high engagement
alxmax mentioned earlier someone who appears on national tv 100% organic was losing followers. Also it's unlikely the 40+ pages I looked at were or are botting. Well maybe, then what about the personality's losing as well? My theory on quality of followers is like the accounts in #followtrain that followback thousands instantly but have little to no activity and don't like any of your posts. Or the spam like accounts we get when were trending. A lot of people in my niche get spam comments immediately after they post and I know we don't delete them. For this account my like follower ratio is 2x some of these winners. Does anyone know a site to check fake followers like followcheck that actually works?
 
I would have thought someone would have mention this. Instagram has been down for several users which would impact your results.
Networks who be on instagram have talked about it. Even had a old ass lady who uses instagram ask me why IG is down? LOL.
 
You aren't alone mate... My engagement dropped not that much, but followings decently felt the hardest hit.

Edit: basically since monday , the app keep crashinf for some users , maybe instagram hasn"t change :) , wait and see

Oh so that crashing since Monday isn't only me....good to know. I updated the iOS app on tuesday, expected to solve it, but no.
 
Just await some banned accounts. It's coming :)
They changed the algo :)
 
Likes have Decreased on my Posts by 50-60% and Followers Increased by 20% per day on my Page.
It looks Spammy Now.
Any Thoughts BHWers

And Also, App is Crashing on my Phone also.

Follow/unfollow does not lead to "low quality" followers. Look at the stats. 75% of your followers on average do not even see your posts.

All your engagement is coming from non-followers. They way a lot of people talk about engagement shows they don't understand how IG works, they are just assuming things. Anybody can throw up cat pictures and get a few thousand followers a month, but that doesn't mean you are some expert at IG. Not to mention a few months later those same people are wondering why they don't make any money on their animal account.

I make lots of money on my animal account bud :D
 
It's the new update and algorithm, some of my accounts grow much slower now, dropped from 1-2k/day to about 500/day and other accounts grow much faster now, like people said, some are winners and some are losers right now

Point out where I said animal accounts don't make money. I said that putting up cat pictures and getting a few thousand followers a month is not hard, a 10 year old can do it. Doesn't mean you will make more than a few bucks a day unless you understand other aspects of marketing.

By they way, I hope you are making a ton of money, as I do for everybody here. But "making money" is different for everybody, and I understand that because of age and the country you live in. But for me, the minimum to be considered "making money" is $35K a year if this is what you do full time.

Yes, that is the minimum, if you do this full time. But, I guess many here are not doing IG/IM full time, at least those that are posting - Because their posts literally tells they have absolutely no clue about what they are writing.

On Android I see no differences, but I had two updates coming shortly after each others two days ago.

Roughly how much do you earn through Instagram?

I'm curious because I've started working on Instagram full-time for approx. 2-3 months now. I've only made $25 through shoutouts. Looking to see how I square up.

You are working full time (defined as 8 hours a day), but have only made $25 in 2-3 months? Sounds like you need to find another job. Of course if you are just having fun with IG in your spare time, lige people are going crazy about Pokemon Go, it is a different story.
