What's better, stylish theme or user friendly/fast theme?

It depends what you're doing but generally you want to keep it fast and simple to keep your visitor focused on your content without many distractions

If you're creating a blog, the type of theme you should choose is dependant upon what would appeal more to your target audience. For example:

  • If my target audience consisted of older people, I would use a theme that focuses on user-friendliness>speed>style
  • If my target audience consisted of millennials who are accustomed to instant gratification, I would use a theme that focuses on speed>style>user-friendliness
  • If my target audience consisted of hair dressers or hair dressing clients, I would find a theme that focuses on style>speed>user-friendliness
*User-friendliness being defined as being easily searchable, navigated, and responsive (while excluding speed for the sake of the examples).

Being fast and user friendly doesn't mean it can't be stylish. But as the guys above say it all depends on what your user wants.
