What's A GOOD Conversion Rate? Thoughts On My Results?

Hey vendors and affs, I've been promoting Clickbank products for a long time now as an affiliate but never really bothered to find out if my conversion rates are the norm or above standards.

I'm promoting different products in different niches and I'm pretty happy with my conversion BUT should I be aiming higher? Is these conversions normal or above average?

I don't do paid traffic, just SEO and some social media stuff.

Would love to hear from vendors on this as well who have affs doing $10k + per month.

I'm just now trying to get profiting in CB promotions (as an affiliate). So although I can't speak to your conversion rates, I'm eager to watch this thread and gain some insight.

Question though: what method(s) are you using to promote? Cold traffic through FB/IG ads? Or warm traffic such as nurturing an email list and promoting offers through there.

I focus on ranking for keywords with buyer intent. Because the people searching for the product or the need for the product they're ready to buy - my content is there to help them make the buying decision. I find it a lot harder to convert social media traffic but normally a video or image that builds enough interest to click a link or take an action gets them to my presell which then warms them up or gets them interested in the products I'm promoting.

I would like to know that after indexing your site in Google, within how long do you get your first sale in general? And all of that are from SEO only?
And how long did it take you to make $14k+ profit? @ThemeWave

Normally after a week or so my pages are indexed, sometimes faster. After publishing I go into google webmaster tools and fetch them as google. I also submit my sitemap and have all the ping services in my wordpress sites to ping setting.

I would say 90% or more of those sales are from SEO. Very little are from social media but I will be doing more stuff with that and I should be doing retargeting and things like that. I don't do PPC but should also be doing that too or outsource it.

Some sites I've made sales within a month of launching. It just depends on the keyword you target, how competitive it is and how good your content and offer is.

For these results it's taken me about a year. I sold a site for a good amount of money around this time last year so I had to start all over again. This time I have many sites but 3 of them earn the majority of the money. I would say - focus on one site until it's making some money before starting another one.

I also promote other affiliate offers from other networks outside of Clickbank but the commissions from Clickbank are best in my opinion.

I’ve been finding that hard but I think with paid traffic I can. Something I’m not very good at and find it hard trying to keep up with all the algo updates and rules as an affiliate.

Hi OP,
Whenever we are launching a new product, we always keep tweaking and testing until we can get EPCs of at least $1.00 on targeted traffic. That seems to be the magic number that ensures that when affiliates send out test blasts, once they get $1.00 EPC they'll keep promoting. Under that makes it hard to keep super affiliates promoting.

So looking at your stats I say you are doing pretty good. Of course, it is impossible to say how good they actually are in your specific case. You can be promoting the best product with the best LP and method, but if the targeting is off, it wont convert. Similarly if you are spending way too much to get those results, then they might not be that good.

At the end of the day, it all boils down on ROI. As long as the returns are positive after factoring in your time, then all's good. What I mean is that if you are spending $100 to make $200, and that takes you 1 hour of your time, and you are happy to be paid $100 an hour, then you're doing fine.

What I always recommend though, is to get in touch with the specific vendors and outline your strategy to them and ask them how you may optimize your (and their) earnings. They are the best person to guide on better targeting, undervalued avenues of promotion, etc...

All up I've probably invested about a thousand bucks all up in seo for the sites that are making money. The rest is just time it's taken to write the articles ohh and some of that money spent has gone on outsourcing a small about of articles.. And hosting + domain costs.

The main sites haven't really been touched once I rank them. They're somewhat passive but I probably should keep adding more content to them. This year I want to learn how to do PPC properly that sh*t is a big mind f*ck for me.

I've found that some vendors are really good and reply with 'some' help but most just give the usual - 'we have all our affiliate material on our affiliate page.'

I know if I owned a product and had affiliates reaching out I'd be actively helping them - like you do!

Anyway, thanks heaps and it's good to hear from a vendors point of view as well and also good to know I'm doing pretty good.
 
I think you will have a good head start in PPC.

You already have a target audience and you know what works.

I think you won’t need to tweak your campaigns to much to find a successful ad.

Just get started.

Across industries, the average landing page conversion rate was 2.35%, yet the top 25% are converting at 5.31% or higher. Ideally, you want to break into the top 10% — these are the landing pages with conversion rates of 11.45% or higher
 
I would say it's above average. I get around 10-11% with SEO traffic.

Btw what kind of keywords do you target ? Are these generic or review type of keywords?

Most keywords I try and rank for are buyer intent or close to it. So yeah, mostly reviews, top lists, comparison and product name related keywords.

This is exactly what i was saying to myself today, about SEO.

Hope you dont mind if i ask a few questions?

What is the range of the gravity of products you are targeting?
Are you collecting emails as well?
Did you outsource the content for the main sites that are bringing in the sales or do it yourself?
What page are you for the main sites? Page 1 or 2?
How long before you made what you put in back?
Once you reached your current rank, did you continue to buy links? or You put that on hold for now.
I know you target many products, but what niches are the products that bring in the most money? If your willing to disclose
Are your sites informational ? or review based ? or something else

PS sorry with the questions.
