What's a decent/Moderate sized PBN for a newcomer?

Im on page 2-3 for moderate difficulty keywords (35-40 KC on LongTailPro)

What a decent sized PBN to try and reach the front page? I know it REALLY depends on metrics, but I'm just looking for a ballpark. From what I've heard, 5 is too small. How about 30? 50? 100? At one point should I be able to stop and say: This PBN is good. If I'm still not ranking, I should look at other factors.

You have a question out there that is not parsed correctly.

What you want to do is build one PBN site, set it up correctly and see how it affects your money site. Once that is done you either add another one or add some other off site SEO.

You build on what works and to go and get 5-10-15-20-etc PBN sites set up may not be necessary as you want to see what one would do for your ranking.

Build Rome but don't do it in a day.

15 would be a good start for medium competition. Add more later if you're not satisfied with the result.

Since its a Med competitive KW, you can start with 5-10 PBNs at first. Just check how ifs making a change in your ranking. If its positive, then go ahead and build more till you achieve your desired top page. But do not focus on PBNs alone, just get some good quality backlinks from niche relevant sites for diversity and longevity.

Build a PBN by yourself, there are lot of threads/guides available here in BHW. Good Luck!

25 domains with quality links would be good for medium competition.

20 PBN sites should be enough. If you don't have enough funds to build a 20+ site PBN, get some cheaper links first (e.g. web 2.0s) and then build 5 to 10 PBN sites when you reach the top 50. That's a smart way to stay competitive with less resources (money).

when you say 20 pbn sites, do you mean expired domains? or purchasing ones people are selling in the market with decent links?

most expired domains are below par to what you can get for 80$+
