Let's say there are 2 shopify stores that I know for sure are making $2k-10k per month and I can see all their products and traffic sources.
What would you do in this situation? make something similar or copy them or what?

Just because you know they make money doesn't mean you will if you copy them, maybe they got better marketing skill and a bigger budget.

On one hand I think it's a douche bag move but on the other hand, business aint pretty so if you can make good money of it, fuck it!

Is it though?

Don't we reverse engineer all the time to see what the competition is doing so we can get a leg up on them and then replicate and increase our {links|posts|you name it} to {out rank|kick their backsides}?

I'd replicate the sites, increase the value being offered, out do them on their traffic sources and then have my wife spend the earnings.

My wife spends the money before the other steps happen...

It's a clothing niche, so I am thinking of offering the same type of designs to the same audience so I won't be copying his products but just a similar brand overall.

I'd copy his products if it was profitable.

I guess, that's why I said on the other hand it's business, no room for formalities :D

Dude the barrier to entry is so low that they should expect competition. They don't really have control or a barrier to entry, so the market is going to sort them out anyways

I'd say give it a go, maybe add something, if you have anything in mind.
