My favorite uncle was recently diagnosed with a incurable form of cancer. With the right treatment, it could be contained and not spread like crazy but it will never be eliminated. Barring any additional surprises, he probably could live for a good couple of years whilst having regular treatment.

I found out yesterday that he had collected about 1000 domains over the years. Presently, there are about 850 domains, 150 or so expired this year as he has been going through a difficult time. Poor guy managed to renew only 6 domains this year, yet he had never lost a domain to expiration.

The domain portfolio is quite diverse. He did typo-squat a good number of major retailers for electronics, household products, automotive, credit card companies. There are some domains for advancing technologies like solar and trends like podcasting. A good number of two word combinations. There are a handful of pure gems in there too. Some of them are as ancient as a decade old. Plus one domain that completely blew me away. It is all in there.

I have no familiarity with domain parking but I would say they are poorly parked. They are now barely bringing in 100 dollars a month. Very few among them have any worthwhile content.

So my question is, what would you do to monetize these domains? I greatly appreciate any ideas both black&white hat but more white hat.

It would be easier to sell them all and invest them into something that ou are very experienced in....

First of all, sorry to hear about your uncle. Cancer is a bitch of a disease. In reference to your new "domain empire" I would personally sell the duds and keep the gems. With the proceeds from the sale of the duds, I would look into rebranding the gems, especially if they are pulling in little to no $$$. Find a hot niche and market the piss out of them using every method you know how.

    Thanks guys, great ideas guys.

I was also thinking some of them would have to be sold, my uncle may object. But for starters if I could come up with a way to raise the money they bring in so as to make the whole "domain empire" pay its renewal fees without drawing funds from the outside. Then the real development can there after start at a manageable pace.

This is a gold mine, the ill owner knows it and I know it. The question to me is how to mine it so that it helps with the expensive recurring medical expenses.

Does he have hosting anywhere? or are they all just parked? I read in another thread the Domain**Sponsor is the best parking site.

I would think that you NEED to sell some of them. I don't think anyone could really build 1000 websites, especially battling cancer at the same time. I've seen a couple of eb@y affiliate site builders here, they might be quick fixes for your electronic related domain names.
