What would you do if you got hit by Google?

Hello everyone

I recently got hit by December's Google Update, where I lost a big portion of my traffic. Therefore, it took me back to the beginning, where I was getting around 60-80 daily traffic, whereas before the Google update, I was getting between 150-350 daily. After this loss, honestly, I lost motivation, which resulted in fewer articles published per month compared to what I used to publish before the shitty Google Update. So, my question is for those who got experience with Google update over the past few years. What would you do in my case? Would you just give up on the site and try to build a new one in a different niche, or is it better to continue publishing tons of articles, hoping to recover in the next google update? This question may look a bit odd in the eye of some of you, but this is my first website, so I'm still learning.

Besides, regarding the performance of my website. The website is one year old.
I've purchased one backlink package only, and this is due to my very tight budget. However, all the articles that I go after are around low competition keywords only. Around 90% of my posts are buying articles.

If you search around this site and others you will get pointed in the direction of how to recover from the negative effects of updates. I always try to look at the current results and figure out what the sites in the current top positions are doing and emulate and improve upon that. Of course that includes many different factors. Getting negatively effected by updates that are out of my control has taught me the importance of being diversified within a niche with different types of sites and strategies and diversified with properties in different verticals which for long term sustainability is very necessary.

Personally I wouldn't give up on that site just yet many have recovered rankings after updates some without making any changes at all. Best of luck!
 
if it's a thin-content affiliate site? give up and move on

if you're actually trying to provide value to users and can find the motivation to soldier on -- keep updating. SEO is a years-long game.

The site got almost 100 articles with 1500 average words per article
 
Identify what might have caused the drop.

Did it happen to one page, or the website on a whole?

Website on a whole it could be things like backlink profile, site speed, or thin content

Single page, it could be the quality of the content, indexing issues, or just general ranking drops

Is there a competitor that has just overtaken your rankings?

Etc etc

-According to Google Search Console, the reason behind the loss of traffic is because many of my articles that was doing well dropped instantly after the google update
-In terms of site speed, i got better performance compared to all my competitors "74 mobile/92 Desktop"
-I don't have a good backlink profile, that's the reason why i go after low competition keywords only " Ahrefs + manual SERP analyze with Moz Bar extension and some other tools"
-And in terms of content quality, i always try to provide as much value as possible since i know very well the niche

So, "many" articles, I assume it's site wide.

The backlink profile you have, although you don't have many, they might be pretty poor links. You should try and steadily build some more genuine ones, it shouldn't be too hard to sort as you don't have many.

The other thing, I understand that you try provide quality in terms of your content, but I can tell you're not an English native. I don't mean this in a rude way, but if you're the one writing the content, chances are Google can tell this as well.

Updates are cruel, and unpredictable, I don't know exactly what it could be. Just keep plugging away, get some decent back links and you should be back to your visit count in no time.

First of all, thank you very much for your advice
I don't always write the content by my self, but when i do, i use Grammarly premium in order to fix spelling errors.
The reason why i didn't build any backlinks cuz of my tight budget. Plus, i wanted to keep the blog as white hat as possible (i guess it's a beginners' mistake) :D

It's not a beginners mistake, you can do well with no backlinks at all, it's just a hell of a lot harder

I personally like a mix of PBN, Guest Posts & Niche Edits

More content and good backlinks.
A solid backlinks profile on an aged domain helps to pass the various updates.
And when you can, try to diversify your portfolio of websites. It helps to mitigate the variance.

Do you think that in case i want to create a new website, should i stick with the Amazon Affiliate program, or i should try smth else?
 
your website need quality and best link building in seo & daily unique backlinks factor.
 
The best way to check if your website was penalized by an automatic penalty is to login to Google analytics and review your Google organic traffic. If you see a drop in traffic during the dates that Google released an algorithmic change, then most probably you were hit and that's the reason that your traffic dropped.

one thing that would help is this: has a new site got to the top position for your primary keyword? if so, what is the characteristic of that site?!

almost everyone got injury somehow from the google update the thing is that i think you give up to fast i think you should try to buy few more packages and backuplinks from high authrithy website that google algo will take it sirusley and than choice if it still profiable before you change niche or quit.
 
Update the content on your website. Add fresh content. Try changing the anchors. Don't give up yet. Try for another 6 months and see what happens.
