What would be the 'hidden' advantages of managed hosting ?

I've done the math (literally) about what kind of web hosting suits me best. The math is for costs and profits over a period of time. And i have seen that a website running on cloudways has same profits as unmanaged hosting.
At least for my needs and what i can anticipate ... if you got an opinion about this, i'm glad to hear it and maybe we'll go through the details

But what i actually need guidance with is about the not so known stuff about having a server that is managed by me
By setting up my server i would install runcloud, firewall securities with iptables that chatgpt scored as 9/10, apparmor, cloudflare's waf and ddos protection, and almost forgot ... fail2ban, headers security

Is there something more that i should be aware of ? Something that can be unexpected for a newbie getting massive traffic for example ? Something that you only find out about after having experience with websites ?

Actually it seems like that you have enough knowledge about basic server setup and configuration, i think if you buy the right softwares like for security imunify360 and configure your server fine with cPanel, you wont need server management (though an expert server management can always help in tweaking and setting up your server). Also you can configure backups using jetbackup, but i think if you use these softwares like cPanel, imunify360, jetbackup it can make your job easier for server management and security.

I always use a dedicated server to host a website, no matter how large the website is or how much traffic it gets. With a few tweaks, the sites will run extremely fast, and you'll rarely face any issues with the performance.

I done my own VPS
It was so well secured, that it took me 1 day to login again when I lost my password after changing ports and everything, and still I had SSH access

Seriously, going with VPS is cheaper. Set up once and you don't need any managment. Don't forget about some automatic backups and if you not keep here any financial data, then ... do not masturbate to security checks. Just install newest Debian and some managment panel. If they hack it, you will restore from backup in 5 minutes.

Advantages for the hosting company probably, a simple way to milk newbies

You'll simply be paying extra $$ on a monthly basis in something you can easily learn to do & do in a few minutes,
There's no extra features or resources, you'll be paying for setup, configs, etc... that most of the time are done with scripts
