What to use 301 or Canonical Tag

Please suggest me what to use 301 or Canonical tag.

we have 4 version of site

• http://yourdomain.com
• http://www.yourdomain.com
• https://yourdomain.com
• https://www.yourdomain.com

I want to use only https://yourdomain.com , please suggest , as its dynamic website.

301 redirection would be better to use and send traffic from the other URLs to your preferred URL. A server-side 301 redirect is the best way to ensure that users and search engines are directed to the correct page.
While canonical tags are used when you only want to index your preferred URL. That means to tell search engines to only index the https://yourdomain.com and keep the others available for people to see, but don’t include them in index. This will pass credits to preferred page.

+1 for this. Canonical tag is for something different. You can also set up forcing SSL on server side but this can be done only if you have dedicated server. Go with 301 and you will be fine.

Remember also to make 1:1 from every of this version to https:// version of inner pages.
