Well, I think you are saying is it's good to use it, it doesn't matter if it once was used for 301/302 redirect, but I am not 100% sure what you mean by "Redirect is a one way street and shit doesn't flow back." and also the part that "That's why I sometimes even prefer redirects, because you can be pretty sure, that nobody spammed the domain with shit links (mostly)."

I also just read the "expired domain myth" post you have started in 2017, great post! sorry but one more question for you, it seems that you answered it before too, but now it's 2020, so if it's non-related niche, and let's say site niche is "traveller blog" and my niche is cat related products, so if I take the "traveller blog" niche domain and slap a post something like "when I am Thailand, I came across this cat product and it saved my cat" do you think that's good enough in terms of passing same amount of niche related link value?
I know you might say something like "no one really knows, you have to test it" but I guess I am just trying my luck and see if you have some experiences with such setup.
