That was what I realized in recent years too, better phones usually means more distractions, such as better gaming experience, better audio, better screen, we're kinda like carried forward by the trend of the tech, we're persuaded by ads, that we need them all, instead of choosing what we really need from a phone. From my experience, an chatting app, make some calls, and some jod required app are pretty much what I need, plus I got an Ipad....I'm good for this coming 2 years or 3

I'm an Iphone guy.. Had the same one for 6yrs (Iphone 6), think its time for a new one now as most apps need the latest IOS which the good old 6 doesn't upgrade to!! Anyone got a cheap iPhone they don't need

It seems we are in the same boat. I am looking at a new phone and what I care about is the battery. Samsung mid-range phones fair better in battery than their flagship phones ... i.e. a52 vs s21
how is the battery life? what are the main things you do with the phone? i.e. gaming or just msg and talking?
may I know the reason behind it?
any software issues? would you stick with xiaomi for your next phone as well?

I am a few models behind from the latest as I am on the iPhone XR and I have had it now for three years, going to upgrade here in a few weeks though as I am due for an upgrade but am having the hardest of times deciding which to get.. the One Plus 9 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, or Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G?
The primary use would be videos and gaming (at times) as most of my phone use is used for work, suggestions welcomed.

I use the s21 ultra.
But the truth is most midrange smartphones are good enough for the tasks even phones from 4 years ago. They might not have as good premium build, display quality or camera. But they can perfectly serve me.
I only upgraded to the s21 ultra because my s10 broke, I still miss the s10 because of the small size that perfectly fits in my hand.
Smartphones today are just hype and nothing more, your 3 year old smartphone can perfectly work well.

For sure, cheap phones with very good characteristics. I will never buy an iphone if i can buy a xiaomi by 300$ with some better characteristics than an iphone.
Also, i changed the rom to my phone and i am using Pixel Experience rom. So right now is like i am using a google pixel mobile.
Also, updates every month with the last security patch of Google.
2 Years and no issues.
