Step 4: Get a massive keyword dump of all kws related to your target niche
Step 5: Filter the keywords in terms of competition - focus on easier kws first
Step 6: Structure your site like this:
KW-driven topics that help visitors discover KEY question-based information >> category information >> CONVERSION Pages (reviews / top recommendations / tutorials for specific products or services)

While it may seem more lucrative to choose your niche going by CPC ranking, I wouldn't recommend going that route, especially if you'll be writing the content yourself. In that case, it's best to stick to topics you're excited about covering. In fact, even if you end up outsourcing the writing, you want to be able to make sure all the facts check out before you post the content.
In any case, if you want to keep people coming back, you definitely don't want to focus only on keywords and SEO. Instead, offer them good and interesting content. On the other hand, if you'd simply like to take advantage of SEO and make some money, follow the tips in the first comment.

For blogging ...start with the niche you are familiar with. You must also be good if you wanted to make good money. But it takes time. Learn basic blogging tips first.

There are various niches, theme & content work but as @blackbeans well explain you to choose best for Blogging. Do search before moving and find a suitable theme according to your interest.

Only you will know that - what are you knowledgeable in? What’s your passion? I haven’t read all the comments so I don’t know if anyone has said this, but you won’t make it big unless you are dedicated to the niche and know the in’s and out’s. Just my opinion, to be honest, but if you want to just pick something regardless of your interest, I’d start looking at what’s popular and stay away what’s “too popular”, if that makes any sense.

Agreed! I think it's important to find a niche you have interest in! If you pick something boring you will lose interest and not add enough content to make good money. Better to work on something that pays less money per click but you can stay motivated to work on for a long time! It can take years to get your blog bringing in real traffic.
