What should I do in this situation?

So basically let me start from the start,
I had a freebie site that ranked really well for some good keywords in the niche, (free ipod). About first or second.
So on this site I was under a affiliate program with Commission Junction, it was a freebie company
So I knew the owner by talking to him on a forum, he asked me if I wanted to join the program compared to the one I was using before.
At first it was going well, lots of sign ups. I got paid for sign up and for a completion on a offer on the site.
Later he told me he had to lower my rates as I was having only sign ups and no completions. (Completions make him money).
So a few weeks later he said it was converting well at all so he offered to buy the site, I sold it for ($500). He said it was that or I can't be in the
affiliate program as I "wasn't converting sign ups".
So I sold it to him.

BUT get this, he hasn't changed the site at ALL. He just changed over my aff. links. That means he was probably lying to me, and I was converting.
That makes me really mad. He also took back some money I earned as it wasn't valid he said (BS).

NOW, he left the domain on my hosting account, never bothered to move it. He just changed the password on me. So I called godaddy and got my account back. So I could easily steal the site back.

Now I could make a lot of money with it now, in a different way.

But, I'm an honest guy, I don't like to trick and steal and scam people.

What should I do? Does he deserve this? I mean what I'm doing is wrong, but...

Wondering what people think?

Forgot to mention that he paid me over a year ago so he'd never be able to get his money back.

You made the deal with him. You agreed to the money, and didn't think to ask to see the rates of conversion beforehand. You learned something and walked away with $500; many times when people learn a lesson they lose money.

It is completely possible you may have not been generating good leads and all he had to do was change the links and market the site better. That could tell you something.

Maybe greed got you back then and it's back again. Why would you wait a year?

It sucks but I think you may have to suck this one up. You took the cash that he offered. Big life lesson learnt there though, do not trust everything people say to you!

Why would you wait a year?

Pretty much my question as that part makes no sense... the rest of it does not a whole lot either but you wait a year?

There is such a thing as seller's remorse but let it go, Man, let it go.

Thanks guys. Yeah its my loss.

I waited a year because I just realized I could do some quick CPA offers on them. I think I'll do the right thing and not steal it back.
