What server is Fiverr.com on?

I got asked by someone to build a site like Fiverr and they are wondering what Server is Fiverr actually on since I know it must be a strong one for all the traffic it takes but my knowledge on the kind of server needed to handle a lot of traffic like this limited.

Does your client have deep pockets to start out ?

If not it's better to start smallish and scale up as traffic increases.

A good tool for this is also 'wappalyzer' it's a free chrome plugin
 
For future reference, google netcraft site report . Then, enter the URL you want. If I had a few more posts under my belt here, I would just post the link.
 
Oh yeah, for additional future reference, you can use robtex . That should be easy enough to find via google. From robtex, enter the URL, and get your data.
 
I hope you realize that there have been a metric fuck-ton of Fiverr clones that all went nowhere.

IMO, Fiverr itself is sort've bullshit. I've never had good service from it.
 
True I know about a giant amount of Fiverr clones at least 20 of them I know of. I have had a few good from Fiverr but in fairness on Fiverr a load of rubbish,okay stuff and small amount of good stuff the best I ever received was in the past I got a ******** backlink of huffpost before it turned nofollow for just $10.
 
I do use Fivesquid in the UK and it's offer a decent service, sometimes even better than fiverr
 
To handle lots of traffics , of course you should use cloud such as aws or rackspace
 
Dont expect too much traffics first, because it is Fiverr clone, why people go use this site instead of Fiverr?

Throw him a Wordpress Fiverr theme with a normal VPS/hosting first, he will soon realized and go to do other things.
 
AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform – plenty of options to choose from. Focus on developing the website and acquiring the users. Handing traffic and scaling should be the least of your worries when starting out.

As others have said, there's been plenty of clone sites for microjobs 99% have failed.
Those that are still operating get almost zero traffic or are selling services at a higher price, which are basically just resold crappy services.

If your client knows the industry and understand the mountain he will be facing, then go for it, make yourself plenty money but set yourself up as a limited liability company incase he eventually gets pissed at the results and decided to take you to court.
