What people mean when they talk about "Custom Script"

Hi,

i mean i'm the road to use wordpress or datalife engine.
and some doods told me its better to use a custom script.

what does it even mean ? is that mean your own CMS.
or a special theme ? what the generical meaning of this.

but its not mean to recode a whole architecture like wordpress, it's just an addon ?
 
CMS is custom made script basically something unique. design for you specifically they are typically more expensive than a traditional theme and templates.
 
CMS is content management system, not custom made script.

Examples of a CMS are WordPress, Magento, Joomla etc.

WordPress is completely fine. For 90% of website idea's you probably won't need something custom as most is available/programmable into WordPress.

but i mean most of the time cms are open source so you can make anything uwant

Lol i've just noticed that CMS are the same letter for Custom Made Script.

why dont you simply ask those "doods" ? Maybe they are referring to a "normal" html site without any CMS
 
When they said custom script, they GENERALLY don't refer to any CMS like wordpress.

You build backend architecture exactly what you need for
 
I wouldn't even call them scripts anymore. Wordpress is a complex system, not just a simple script.

When people say "custom script" though, it may mean both, a custom system or a custom plugin made from scratch and usually not publicly released for distribution.

yeah man, that's confusing. when i heard custom script, i see some random JS file or a scripting shell file, i cant imagine a whole backend/frontend architecture.

but thanks my mind is clear now
