The main backlinks that you create to the money site are known as Tier 1 aka top tier backlinks. So the Tier 2 backlinks are the backlinks that back up the Tier 1 sites. Which is usually created with medium quality content. You can even create tier 3 backlinks to back up the Tier2s. As an overall, it will stabilize your main site when you improve the quality of each tier.
