The two groups of links are obviously different, I don't know what other difference you want to know.
If you're asking of which is worth, the first group I'd say is just for the sake of having links pointing to your site, hardly will they do anything for you.
The secons group(PBN) depends on a lot of factors. A single still won't do much but is far better than the first group, assuming the PBN is a really quality one.

both can work, but PBN links usually have a stronger effect.
if the "private blog post" however is just on a site that publishes random links in each of these blog posts, then its almost the same effect as the first link you described.
the real power comes from a private PBN where only you get links, nobody else.
