Shopify for sure, I have had a lot of success with it

I have work and developed more than 200 webshops and found prestashop is more stable and easy and it could be useful for small to medium sized webshop.
 
What exactly is that you are trying to do?

This needs a bit more context in order to get you the right answer.

Are items yours?

Are items shipped from China?

Are these items from US Based Suppliers?

What is your expertise area?

Do you want to market/target to a specific niche?

Ill try to give an answer in a broad way.

If items are yours eBay/Shopify

If items are Dropshipping related eBay/Shopify/Amazon

Each one of these require specifics pathways and depends a lot on what exactly are you trying to do...

So yeah, any more context would be great in order to provide more feedback.
 
Shopify is good in many things eg: Fraud analysis, Advance Analytics, Retargeting, Easy installation, better ui than woocommerce, less load, Broad app market etc :)
if you are really serious about dropshipping then it doesn't matter where you gonna start, just start ;) but imo shopify is best because you're in multi millionair business and if you are serious about your business then spending 50$-100$/month on store doesn't matters at all, GL :)
 
If you know marketing -> Shopify with Oberlo integration

If you just want to sell random stuff without marketing and get traffic for free -> eBay

Context - it’s ecom store. Currently in magento. 4K self owned products. Reasonably well established but magento is becoming hard to manage.

It’s not my store, asking on behalf of a friend.

Personally I don’t mind magento, but I do find it quite complicated - and it is hard to find experienced magento devs.
 
Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think the poll speaks for itself anyway - looks like shopify is the most favoured option so I am going to look into that in more detail. As long as I can find a sensible way of migrating from magento to shopify then I will probably go that route if the project goes ahead.
 
once again ill say IXXO Cart..by far the best and most features..even if you want one that doesnt exist they will make it for you in no time!
you can buy website a native iOS,Android app with your store. Great themes also.

they will release a new price catalog very soon , they will have free version , ive been using it for years. TOP of the line..

I myself got f-ed in the A by 4 "scam orders" in one week, which is just normal orders where the buyer claims it's a fraud, then get all their money back. I lost $600 in a week. I sent in evidence, receipts, shipping details, everything - But nope, take my money from my account + $25 extra fee for each order.

This one is my favourite:
I am a seller with ******* and I had a customer purchase about $5000 worth computers and Stripe returned the money to customers for the claim of unauthorized transactions, I clearly proved that the customer purchased the items but stripe did what they wanted. The customer never returned the computers and they made the first claim while they were purchasing another set of computers. The items were delivered by Fedex and the transaction was approved for the address to which the items were sent. These people are insane .​

  • "This company sucks….. no phone number to call and the email well no sense in that 5 days still no reply after 10 emails…."

  • Stripe is probably one of the worst companies out there. They take 24hr or sometimes never respond back to emailes regarding issues from unsuccessful payments made by customers

I can keep going. Read for yourself. Check their Facebook page too, it's filled with negative comments.

I'm going to do everything in my power to let everyone know how shit they are.

I would suggest WordPress or Joomla. WordPress and Joomla both are popular CMS. Both are having open source software and are free to download. The base of these CMS is PHP and supports the MySQL database. Both are having number of free and paid templates and themes. Boith sites supports the multiple languages. Though both are similar, here are some differences between them -

1. Installation - WordPress installations is quite easy and takes less time compare to Joomla. Joomla also has the easy installation but it takes more time and complicated than the WordPress.

2. In-built themes and plugins - WordPress has the more number of free and easy to update the themes. When you will install the WordPress, it comes with the number of free themes. Also you can search the related theme and plugins from the admin panel of the WordPress. Joomla has the templates and extensions but those are not configured under Joomla admin panel, you will have to search them and after that you can install them.

3. Support Cost - Support cost for Joomla is more because it's not easy to find the Joomla expert easily. There are online forums, communities but when you will need the expert at your end then it's costs more for the Joomla.

4. Security - WordPress sites are the main target of the hackers. There are multiple security plugins and updates are available which secures your website from the hackers. Those are automatically get installed on the WordPress. Joomla has the extensions and new updates for securing the site. But we need to manually install them.

5. Importing the data - Importing the data on the Joomla is the hard task compare to WordPress. Also migrating the Joomla from one version to another is very hectic task.

Thanks. Joomla I have tried and I didn't really like it, just felt too complicated to use. Its one thing I love about wordpress - it feels like you can do almost anything with it but at the same time it feels so easy and simple to use - compared with Joomla, it still feels like you can do anything with it, but at the same time it feels so complex.

Magento is also the same, BUT I have seen first hand how much you can do with magento in terms of integrating third party applications / services and so on.
 
Shopify is great on a lot of aspects. Where it fell short, was the design and customization. The homepage can be done to the moon, but the rest of the pages, you're stuck with a straight up catalog. But, the payment processing is great, and they drop every payment to your bank account.

To sum them up, they're simple and easy to get started with, but become difficult when you want more than a simple storefront. If you can code your own css, then the sky is the fucking limit with them.
 
if you have to upload 5k products into shopify, (I couldn't find a bulk upload plugin when I last checked,) then shopify is defiantly the FASTEST.
I use woocommerce too, and I'm currently uploading 10k+ stock to shopify, without a doubt, the single page product creation is the easiest.
 
You can Try Jimdo, with this you can change the appearance or description of the product very easy. With this user-friendly interface it allows to manage the website with single click. By using simple tool bar you can add description, image and Price
 
Woocommerce is easily the best hands down, plus its free - You do need basic WP skills, however, you can easily follow YT tutorials.

Shopify is for noobs and amateurs.
 
Shopify is a paid service? So I take it (May be wrong) that you can have your Shopify took off you. Personally I'd never use a third party that could be whipped from under me.

Wait, you didn't know shopify was a paid service?

It's a host, a registrar, and a payment service all in one. They're.. kinda big. Something like 200k businesses are ran on their platform. I wouldn't expect them to be suddenly gone with such a large user base of businesses (customers who understand the value in paying for services)
