I seen lots of people creating everyday hundreds of Profile type backlinks for their sites...

"/profile/username"...............

Ok... what is the benefit of it. Bec., It has no any high Pagerank in that profile linked page. Then only with indexing how their sites will be boost.

I think in High page rank like 3,4,5,6 blogs comments is the best. Bec., it gives direct Pagerank link.

But, what is the usage in profile type backlink...

I may have missed any best seo usage from that profile backlink method. But, till now i didn't get it to my knowledge. '

Anybody can clear me...?

Google isn't the brightest crayon in the box. Here is what happens. Google searches for backlinks on sites with PR. It thinks "hey, this site is mentioned a lot." It adds up all the times the site is mentioned, and it puts it together. It has no way of distinguishing between profile-type backlinks and others. It essentially thinks the link is being "talked about on the site" and reflects that it's popular. In reality, it usually reflect that it's in someone's profile or their signature.

That's why I can't recommend more the practice of going to old forums you may have posted on years ago and added links. Some of them have such old posts you can essentially make a signature and profile of multiple links without causing any suspicion.

Same thing with PR blogs. Your link is added when you comment, and Google thinks you're popular. A lot of profiles actually do have PR.

Now for those that don't, it's got something to do with something I can't remember. For one thing, it adds credibility. It might look rather suspicious if you have 10,000 backlinks with PR and 3 without. Statistically, there is probably a ratio they would expect to see.

Oh really.....

I think Google is a lot smarted than you give it credit for. I bet you that it knows the difference between a profile link, contextual article like, Press Release link, paid link etc.

They simply have opted not to penalize for them as yet.

I can see that Google might be able to distinguish between profile links if they blocked PR from links with profile in the url. Or perhaps blocked pages with combinations of things like age, birthdate, website, and other phrases appearing singularly and with low keyword diversity. But I don't think they have a system of distinguishing profiles from non-profiles on a site, at the moment. Unless there is some hidden code related to profiles that I am unaware of.

The benefit of a profile link is that it's another backlink and they all count. It's obviously not worth as much as a high pr blog comment though.

Agree with vodkapat, however I have about 15,000 backlinks showing up in google webmaster tools and yet my PR is still 0. I understand its hard to say how many you need to get going, but does anyone have any ideas or remember how many it took them to get the ball rolling?

Cheers Sion

I think gaining PR for your website is more about the content you have on your website rather than how many links you have pointing to it. PR's not that big a deal anyway, as long as it's making money is the only thing that counts :)

Its true that the actual profile page will be PR0 but thats not the only thing which it counts. It the link is from PR0 page, your website will not get a PR juice but PR is not so important. The important is getting high in SERP and thats where these links are very effective as it comes from high pr forum.

You just need to ensure the quality of forum when making a profile. Dont go for those forums which are spammy or banned IP or something like this. Also make sure that its d0f0llow.

For a moderate competitive keywords, you can rank in the top 5 position with just profile links, if you know what you are doing exactly.. also it helps to get link diversity

Every link counts except spammy ones :)

We make different kind of links to keep diversity in our link building campaign...
