here is a video going over some panda information
very informative

I use the same backlink strategy for my clients site and I see no change in their rankings which are for more competitive 2 word phrases, but for my sites which are low comp and targeting 3-4 word keywords they get hit. So if it was the backlink strategy then client's site would be affected as well. So why did my sites get hit and all of them too at the same time?
There could be a lot of possible reasons such as panda update favored your competitors in terms of better content (remember panda focuses on quality sites for users), could also be the update is not complete yet and you might see changes in few days, also your client might be using other SEO service to supplement what you do for him, etc.
My advise is don't worry about the loss of rank and focus on how to get back up there by increasing the qualities of your contents.

As far as my client goes I know for a fact he is not doing any other SEO since I introduced him to it.
As with my sites it seems all the big retailers have taken up spots on the frontpage again like amazon, wallmart, nextag, ebay, etc. It's not other competitors per se, but these sites just got pushed up while mine and others with unique content and more backlinks got pushed down. So I guess I will wait it out and see what happens. I just hope this is just a temporary thing and they revert back.
I hope so too as those type of sites are easy to outrank. I hope their aim is not to favor the consumer products searches to them. In general, there should be forums, review blog/sites, etc that might offer valuable information on product review sites and it will be foolish for google to not consider them.
Cross your fingers and hope its just temporary.

It seems my sites have taken positions that they were 2 months ago before I started my linking campaign. Everything was going positive and sites moved up nicely up to yesterday then when I checked early this morning everything had shifted. For a moment when I did see my sites in the top 3 I was worried they were deindexed which would have been a much bigger issue. But they all seem to have reverted back to almost the same exact spots before I did the new backlinks.
Write unique content... build relevant quality backlinks... dont use blackhat methods.... you should be fine.
What I don't get is why my local sites don't get hit and it is always the adsense sites that get affected. I have local niche sites targeting keywords "dentist city" and these sites show no effect even with same backlink strategy. It is always these sites that are product based or consumer driven that gets targeted.
It's a case of less vs more competitors for the top spot for both local and the product keywords, respectively.

I have an EMD with 20M+ searches per month that has been registered since 1994 and I have been all over the place... page 1 then page 15 then page 10 and right now page 26 wtf?! Seems the more SEO work I do (white or black) to get better rank only seems to hurt... I am at a loss right now and have decided to just chill for a couple weeks and see what happens...
Google is love hate relationship
Cheers Mates!
I hear you! Dude 20M+ searches a month is a killer!
How is your backlink velocity? How often do you add new unique content?

All my sites both big and small EMD and non EMD have lost rankings across many of their pages since lastnight.
Still got a few high earning pages at number 1 but most have dropped down to the lower part of page 1 or at worst page 2.
90% of the sites that have leapfrogged me are all big brands like amazon, tesco, wallmart etc.
Kinda sucks. Hopefully the update isn't finished yet and some things will shift back around. Kinda lost my motivation to do any work though today...
I have only really started working on the site for the last 6 months so backlinks are only at about 15k and my pr is at a whopping 2 LOL...
I update the content based on happenings in the industry so prob. once every couple of weeks or so.
I have been good at design... but SEO not so much that is why I have come here to "outsource" my SEO. I am trying to see what/who will work best then just have a monthly contract with someone for years to come
Cheers!
I don't think I am being penalized but maybe they are devaluing links I have built over the last 6 years.
FYI **I would also like to add that you would probably consider all of my link building to be white hat. We are talking about Squidoo, HubPages, directories, commenting, a limited amount of forum signatures, and some article submissions. The site is linked to naturally in blogs, forums and yahoo answers, ehow...etc...**
