Network marketing is defined in many different ways.
Offline, it's often confused with multi-level marketing.
You don't want to be confused with MLM because MLM has a bad reputation.
When people hear the term multi-level marketing, they start thinking of Ponzi schemes or some similar scam.
You really can't blame them because a lot of people who pass themselves off as network marketers ended up scamming a lot of people.
And the worst part is, now when you engage in network marketing, at least in the offline version, you end up exploiting your personal networks.
These are friends and relatives and friends of friends.
It can get messy really quickly.
I'm assuming what you mean by network marketing involves online marketing.
Well, if this is the case, then it's really all about using social media platforms to connect with people you know and have some sort of credibility and marketing to them.
The best methods for legit network marketing online is not to just drop link after link and spam the hell out of people.
That's not marketing.
If you want to really leverage your network, you have to put in the time.
You have to actually be friends with people and understand what they're looking for.
And one way to do this is to pay attention to what they post.
If a friend of yours just started on the keto diet and he is showing off his meal plan and the weight that he's lost, he's telling you how he'd like to be marketed to.
He's obviously interested in things that are related to weight loss and the lifestyle that comes with it. Maybe he's looking for new clothing, specialty footwear, or a supplement.
Another way you can network market based on the content that people post involves financial information.
When somebody is posting that they're getting into day trading or they're looking into crypto and forex, use that information to give them free information that would benefit them.
That's how you market.
You don't just say, "Here, buy this."
People are not going to care about what you know before they know that you care.
So share resources with them, build trust, share in their journey, and then direct them to offers that will give you a commission.
Does this take a lot of time? You bet it does.
But since these are people you already know and they're already within your network, the more time and focus you put into crafting specific solutions for these people, the higher the chance you will generate a sale.
Now, of course, you still have to factor in return on effort.
Make sure that whatever programs that you're promoting pay a high enough commission so that your investment of time and focus in the needs of the people you know are more than paid off.
