i havent heard any new link building techniques for quite some time now , all i see is PBN (private blog network) and web 2.0s (link tiers)

The latest type of link getting traction is editorial links. They are expensive but they can drive actual traffic to your website.

for the most part old link building methods are still working. There has been more talking about broken link building lately

This is the first I have heard of broken link building. Perhaps someone can go in to some details about those structures.

that's when you find a link on some website that doesn't lead anywhere because that site/page doesn't exist anymore. So what you do is you create an article/video/image or whatever on your website that would be suitable for replacing that link. Then you contact a website owner informing them that they have a link that doesn't lead anywhere and offer to link to your website instead.

Hope that makes sense :p

First time to read something about broken link building too. Following this topic.

Backlink manual is the best way to survive.

When you choose a fast track, you can use a backlink tier

The best method is guest posting, if you can find good opportunities. If you can afford it, try to pay. Don't be afraid to contact other site owners and try to get an exchange. Worst can hurt is a little rejection. Commenting can be a good temporary fix too.

haven't heard of any new methods myself aside from the same old same old methods. they're all supposedly working fine as long as your "link profile" looks honest and legit.

Yeah Broken link is the current working backlink building strategy.

Play good with Tier 1,2,3 and same thing with PBN try to make your PBN look like regular website.

It's all depend how much money have u got to spend.

1. Editorial links -
Most powerful and the most expensive ones

2. Guest posts - when u do it smart on related to your topic blogs - very powerful

3. PBN - dangerous toy, but still working

As far as i know, it's not the techniques of link building whether it latest or oldest, it all depends on your strategy of ranking:
Short-term: < 3 months -> Quantity over quality, 301' redirect, Churn n' Burn, Parasite SEO techniques...

Mid-term: 3-6 months -> 3 Tiers Links (=Pyramid links), Parasite SEO, Switched Box, PBN...

Long-term: > 9-12 months -> By your hand gradually or comebination of manually building + auto building links...

Just my 2 cent!
