what is branding for seo?

Can anybody explain what is branding for seo? I not sure why I am understand this thing correctly.

Is it my site title or if my domain is howtoloseweight _ com and i using as site title (Settings->General->Site Title, not meta page title) in wordpress How To Lose Weight, and later using All-In-One-SEO plugin I append '| How To Lose Weight' to my post titles (to post meta titles become like 'Best weight loss tips for quick body slimming| How to Lose Weight'?

In this case brand is How to Lose Weight phrase?

Also if I am using emd domain, I can use emd phrase as brand? Or I need to dilute it?
Later anchors like 'brand', 'kwd + brand', 'brand + kwd', 'brand about kwd', 'url+brand', 'url+exact match kwd' (but in case of emd it exact match keyword? this exactly what confuses me)

or brand phrase must be not emd and not keyword with commercial intent (with searches) or just longtail kwd (but not emd keyword)?

Can anybody explain it in details?

You can do branding within site. Link How to Lose Weight link to your domain, without index dot html. Do this on each page. This is called local branding. You are telling searching engine How to Lose Weight belongs to your domain. This what i know. correct me if i am wrong.

Branding is very important since the last Google updates. You know EMD is dieing and Brand is what we all should aim at.

Typically if by using characters in a way that could make a reasonable person believe they are the same as trademarked brand of another company, its safe to say you might be infringing.
