What if you died today!

Someone who is really smart will set up a program that can be stored in an online webmaster's will. When you die, the heir can log in and get all your passwords and domain information, or click to sell off all your business and the site can write them a check.

What happens if we die or become a vegitable? First, your hosting won't get their payments so your sites then go down.... then your domains expire. If your hosting is getting paid and your domains do not expire, your family could keep getting checks for about a year... but eventually your sites will not get updated and spammers will infest it.

or just get life insurance and not worry about it.

i know when you die it goes on your credit report i think.
so after a few months credit card companies would shut off your accounts.
however, i dont think banks would be as informed if the account stayed in good standings. they could EASILY deposit the checks, add someone to your account and with a PP password, they could move it over with a few clicks. you would be all straight.

Paint a picture and sign it, it might be worth something some day.

If I were dead, Hostgator would probably suspend my hosting account due to non payment and I'd be down to $0 / day again.

That would suck!

I think that the last thing about your family would care in that situation, is your online income...

Make some phony Photoshopped pictures up having affair with some famous female or male celebrity (whichever way you go) and some dirty diaries.

Then the world press will be wanting to pay your family for the story!
YOU of course would not be ALIVE to corroborate the story.

OP must be afraid of death. If your concerned about your family, teach them the trade.

Some of these replies are just plain stupid.

Look its all part of growing up and taking responsibility for the things in your life. Part of it is simply that you would rather the money you worked hard for goes to your loved ones instead of kept by large companies, another part is that you would like to leave family members with a form of inheritance, albeit not a traditional one.

What about those who have family of their own, would you not like to know that if the unfortunate should happen, you have left your wife and children with some form of monthly income to live on?
Simply saying well I will be dead so dont care is extremely selfish and shortsighted.

To the op, the best option would either be a straight LLC + attached bank a/c which is passed on upon death, or if you own a few LLC's (or equivalent, such as in different countries) then have them all owned by a single trust, which would then be passed on.
Yes they can and are used for tax dodging, but as long as you pay what you owe/fully declared and they can see your using it legitimately, you shouldn't have any crap from the IRS.

Either way, everything should always be recorded in a proper, legally binding will.

This is so depressing, but I will answer. I make sure my wife has a list of all my sites and passwords. ESPECIALLY the Paypal, Merchant, and GoogleCheckout Account. This way if I died tomorrow she would have access to all these.

Best reply that I have seen and very understanding about the whole point of this thread. + rep to you

To everyone else....I'm not afraid of death nor do I feel it creeping around the corner. I am 39 years old and as healthy as a 2 pack a day smoker that drinks 18 beers and a bottle of wine before bed time can be.
When I was 8 years old my neighbor (a 7 year old girl) got kicked in the head by a horse and died. When I was 17 a girl I went to school with shot herself in the chest and died. When I was 22 a friend of mine overdosed and died. I could go on and on...car wrecks, cancer, murder (not me), disease, and freak accidents. Anyone can go at anytime.
I am not being morbid but the reason I started this thread was to get some insight on what others might be doing to ensure that their online business will not die with them. And maybe open a few eyes.
I am only separated from my wife and if there is a god in heaven I will outlive that bitch. He owes me that for the hell I lived in with her ... But I also have 2 kids and I would like to pass my online income on to them.
I am gonna seriously check into this and make sure that my kids get that shit.
Of course I'm gonna live forever but just in case ya know.

I always wonder this... my family doesn't have idea what I do and wouldn't know to continue doing this...

I was actually thinking to make an ebook or print what I write and leave ti somewhere so my wife could read it in that case and try to do what I'm doing if I gone.

She has here offline job so I am not worried if they could live without my income but it would be a pity to lose it.

But at least, none of my checks is coming on my name so some checks, smaller and smaller as time passes would still come.

i have thought about that many times but did not get an answer.

well, if i died today.. i dont have any words to say! i dont wanna die, im still young and more obligations in my life.. ahahaha!!!! LOLz....

everyone dont wanna die even old person.. lolz

Oh you dont wanna go back to conscious energy?

YOu wanna stay in that limited physical body that costs a fortune to feed and have daily sexual energy releasing needs and need glasses to read stuff on a dying polluted Illuminati controlled planet?
