What if you died today!

I think you should set up a beneficiary account and have all access located in a safe place to ensure a smooth transition.

this just got me depressed.. now i cant stop thinking..

well the smart thinking would be the family would get the pwdump program or whatever and search around for the passwords to access the accounts... isnt that ideal since not everyone would think that way.

the problem with giving logins to accounts is then they can access the accounts and balance.. I suppose leaving a piece of a paper behind somewhere might work well

now that im thinking.. how long do bank accounts stay open after you die?> I cant see it being legal for someone to continue transferring money in and out of it etc..

Well this is all food for thought, good thread to think about.

I was going through my profile (deleting subs etc) + found this topic I had forgot about, so wanted to see what else had been said.

OP did u decide what to do in the end?

Someone who is really smart will set up a program that can be stored in an online webmaster's will. When you die, the heir can log in and get all your passwords and domain information, or click to sell off all your business and the site can write them a check.

What happens if we die or become a vegitable? First, your hosting won't get their payments so your sites then go down.... then your domains expire. If your hosting is getting paid and your domains do not expire, your family could keep getting checks for about a year...

THIS IS A FREAKING AWESOME IDEA!!!! Really!

How many people on here (Im asking ppl) would sign up to a service like this??

"CyberWills LLC" (example)

1. A complete merchant/digital currency platform (like paypal)
- 100% legal + licensed (nothing dodgy)
- Operated as an online/virtual bank account (receive/make payments) + issues Visa ATM/debit card for direct access to funds.
- Could accept funds from all other digital currencies (PP, LR, MB, etc) as well as bank/wire, credit/debit card, WU.

[The idea being EVERYTHING you need can be run through this account]

2. After specifying country of residence, account is automatically configured for local tax requirements.
- "E-Wallet style" account opened within your main account for tax holdings.
- This account CAN NOT have funds transferred out by the user whenever they please, instead the tax holdings are released once a year at the time income tax is due, depending on country.

[For example, if income tax is calculated as 40%, every time money is received 40% is taken out and placed in the E-Wallet 'tax-account']

3. ALL payments, for EVERYTHING you need (hosting, domains, etc) can be made from this account!
- I havent thought this through 'technically' yet, but the idea is all monthly subscriptions, annual Deb/CC charges, PP (via Visa Deb card), etc etc can be made through this account.
- As popularity grows, more + more sites etc would (in theory) start opening accounts and accepting directly, rather than via a Card or other digital currency (like PP), making the whole process easier.
- Unlike PP + others, you MUST log into your account + authorize/start payments by specifying the type of payment being made. Such as domains annually, hosting monthly, salary monthly, one-off bonus, etc. Things such as salary or annual 'bonus' can also be set as a % of profit rather than fixed amount.

4. To open your account you MUST also complete a 'digital will' outlining everything, how it operates, what happens upon your death, etc. Along with all other official documents.
- This will also list who becomes the account holder(s) - so if you have 3 kids who inherit, upon your death, the salary + bonus is automatically divided 3 ways into personal 'E-Wallet' accounts and transferred to their proper bank accounts. 3 personal 'tax holding' accounts are also opened for them, which is released annually.
- Every person inheriting are provided with a copy of the digital will upon your death, with instructions on what needs to be done by them personally (such as supplying death certificate, passport, etc).
- Like with banking law, you must provide legitimate ID documents (passports, drivers licenses, proof of address, birth certificate, etc) to identify you. You MUST also provide these for every person who inherit from your digital will.
- Instructions will also be provided on how to include these into your formal will.

5. Unless only a single person inherits, no one person can have control over the functioning of this will/account. Changes can only be made in the following ways:
- All members can complete/sign the necessary forms, witnessed and sent in by a lawyer, to make changes in agreement with each other.
- A court order overruling the main will (which specifies this one in the ruling), usually due to someone disputing a will.

This also has the benefit of doing half the calculations for your tax return too, which would be available as a downloadable PDF, including your turnover, expenses, personal income + business/personal tax calculations!
***

but eventually your sites will not get updated and spammers will infest it.

or just get life insurance and not worry about it.

I believe your thinking here is that you are running blogs? (spammers commenting).
1. Leave instructions how to disable comments
2. Leave instructions how to convert them to autoblogs to prolong income
3. Not everyone, in fact few high earners, use blogs anyway. This then opens a whole new kettle of fish of how to continue the income after you have gone...

Well, i would write down all my website address/ domain password/ and paypal details, so my wife can get it, if by any chance if i died.

Buy some houses in cheap cities in your country...

Rent out the apartments in these houses so you got yourself a residual income offline. If you die your family gets the rents and if they would really need it they could simply sell the houses for some fast cash.

I think that's the best method, buy houses rent them out.
Just make sure you have a will and that you have at least 2 different lawyers to whom you trust the will, that way no one can fake it and destroy it for your family!

Trust me, when it commes to a will people will do anything for money, even your so called best friends might screw you over the same day you die! :(

PS. Don't trust yourwife or your girlfriend, make sure your children gets more first!

Very insane idea man..I am making around $2k per month and my family also don't know where it is coming from.....I think i should create a will with usernames/passwords and list of all details about how to make money online:D

Your family can take over the bank account after you die. Same with PayPal.

Get a life insurance policy on yourself and name family members as the beneficiaries if your that paranoid about dying. If your young and a non smoker there pretty cheap.

I always worried that if I died today, someone from my family would one day go through my computer looking for photos and memories and mistakenly stumble upon my porn collection.

Both of my hard drives are fully encrypted so if I died today nobody can access my data without my 22 character password.
