I'm interesting in making my first ebook. From what I read I need to make it a PDF file but from my understanding doesn't Amazon Kindle use another format?

Anything else I need to know about the publishing side of Ebooks?

You should really give this page a read before you try to publish an ebook on Amazon Kindle. This will teach you a lot about accepted formatting for Amazon Kindle and which file type to save your document as before uploading.

ok thanks I will check that out. I think you need to create special books for Amazon and PDF's for nearly everything else. I created a couple of eBooks in the last few hours, uploaded them etc. It was pretty easy, just made a file in word then saved it as a PDF. I wil check out that article later anyway....

    Kindle format is mobi.
You can convert any doc with Calibre.

Amazon might convert it from pdf to their own format.

If you want to push custom made books for yourself or around the web PDFs are better, but you can easily use .mobi format on Kindle.
