What Does Content Writing Require?

Then you need to target businesses based upon the level that you're at. Because if you try to charge high prices as a professional writer, and end up delivering content that sounds like the majority of the dogshit floating around places like Freelancer and Upwork, then you will get continual rejection and problems.

Conversely, if you are a really sharp copywriter that can deliver engaging content with the nuances of the English language handled well, then you should be targeting higher-end clients that will pay for that.

The best thing you can do at this point (in my opinion) is to cut your teeth here. Here's why:

a) It is much harder finding good clients without having practiced first and understanding what level you are at. Getting multiple clients is the fastest way to ascertain this quickly. Here you can get multiple clients quickly with limited competition compared to Upwork or Fiverr, which really are cesspools for new writers to try to get work.

b) The cost of setting up Jnr.VIP and a BST here is cheaper overall than the cost of paying fees at a place like Upwork over 6 months. You will retain more of your revenue.. that's especially important when starting out.

c) BHW is much more supportive for someone in your situation than another place - for example, if you asked for advice about how to copywrite on Fiverr or Upwork (if they had a discussion functionality) then not only would you not get positive feedback like this, but you would also get no work because people would not want to try you over the other 2,000 "writers" waiting to get the same work. People here realise that just because you're new to writing doesn't mean you're not a good writer - and will still be interested to find out if that is the case.


After you have completed the essential step of gauging where your skills are, and building some experience up, then I would consider looking for higher paying clients - that means direct clients via outreach. There are advantages to that, but if you dive into it to start with you will probably waste a lot of your own time. You need to know what you can and can't deliver at this point, because otherwise you will be regularly throwing away $x,xxx+ opportunities after just one week of writing, and after a lot of work outreaching to get those opportunities.

Out of any kind of IM professional on BHW, I actually think that copywriters always seem to do the best here. There is never a shortage of demand, and while there are some really solid writers here, BHW is also not oversupplied with good writers either so everyone can still make a living from it.

So it's safe to say that I can provide native-level content. I'm thinking of creating a BST here once I reach 100 posts.

How much do you think I can get? As you can see with my post count, I don't have a lot of experience with BHW. Can I get like $4 or $5 per 1000 words if I provide a relevant image, keywords bolding, proper on-page SEO, etc.? Is that too much? How much would you be willing to pay for the service I just described? (Ofc not trying to sell anything.)

I'm no expert in the pricing here on BHW and my only interactions with the BHW marketplace for copywriting has been making some hires for content that I didn't want to write up myself. You'd probably do better to conduct your own research into what the average kind of prices that medium-high level writers here are able to get, and then maybe drop your price a bit. Down the track you can revise your pricing and launch a different BST, or offer a few tiers of quality/price.

The proof will be in the pudding when you launch a BST and get one of the mods to review your work, and then also the feedback you get from the review copies you'll have to provide. If you can deliver high quality content to them, and then you pricing isn't too high to be attractive to a general audience, you could fairly quickly build a reputation for providing good content at a good price.

For a good writer that is reliable and a consummate professional, goes above and beyond in the research phase, doesn't make grammatical and spelling errors (almost ever, if at all), that sounds legitimately native and doesn't do the small little things that make even the best content sound "off", and knows how to really structure and finish pieces properly to minimise the amount of touch up work I need to do afterwards, $4 or $5 pr/1000 is certainly cheap.

Work on getting your account set up with Jnr.VIP, reach out to mods and learn about setting up your BST the right way, and then dive into it as soon as you can IMO - making sure you really give people a bargain to begin with in order to build up your exposure, skills and reputation.

Always look through your writing for errors and offer good rates, so clients will be glad you threw them a bone.

Put two and two together and realize that to get to where you want to go, you should be the best in the Marketplace, too. Also, be a Jvip.

They’re always doing their best over there, but you shouldn’t let that affect you to the point where it has an effect on your will to win.
