Hello guys,
Google has released many updates in the last few months.
  1. August 2023 Core Update
  2. September 2023 Helpful Content Update
  3. October 2023 Spam Update
  4. October 2023 Core Update
  5. November 2023 Core Update
  6. November 2023 Reviews Update
Most blogging sites have hit by September 2023 Google Helpful Content Update. But these blogs have not recovered yet.
Google trying to kill blogging? What do you think?

google will not kill blogging,it just makes harder the competition

I miss the good old days when the only update we had to worry about was whether our blog looked good in Comic Sans or not. Now, it's like playing 'Guess the Google Algorithm' every month.

Top ranked high DA sites got hit with HCU. Now, it becomes more challenging for newbies.

Agree with that, miss old days.

Blogging in 2024 is going to be more challenging because AI content has made people very lazy.

This sets in motion a potentially apocalyptic scenario where Google basically goes through several upgrades that destroy whatever competitive advantage mass AI-generated content brings to the table.

This is not good news as far as the whole online publishing industry is concerned because, down the line, consumer tastes may change as far as search results are concerned.

Almost everybody loses.

What am I talking about?

Well, when OpenAI's ChatGPT came up with its search result, how many links did you see?

That's right!

None.

It just gives you "the answer."

If you convince enough online searchers to believe that this is the way to go when it comes to search results, what do you think will happen?

Consumer expectations will change.

They're going to basically put a lot of pressure on Google to just give them the answer.

So online publishers would be out of a job because they no longer have a chance to get traffic from a top 5 listing on Google.

Forget about it!

Google would be spoon feeding the "answer" to the searcher.

Sure, the searcher can expand by clicking on a button and seeing the links.

But they're not gonna do that.

People are busy.

People have better things to do.

Do you see how devastating this is?

Do you see how apocalyptic this is?

This is the real challenge to blogging or any other kind of online publishing in 2024 and beyond.

We have to be ready.

What is your strategy for a post-search future?

I wish I had a good answer.

I don't.

I wish your prophecy stays prophecy because I fear it is where the world is heading.

Google will need bloggers to create content for displaying on research results in the future. However, relying solely on Google for traffic won't be a viable option anymore. Diversifying traffic sources such as utilizing search, engaging on social media, and building an email list will be the ideal strategy for ensuring a dependable income from blogging. This multifaceted approach will help bloggers maintain a strong online presence and increase their income potential in the long run

Maybe not, at least the way it is now. It takes time for generative AI to come up with answers. I don't see mass exodus of users from Google search to Bing that already has AI implemented. It's still much more convenient to google something and then click on SERP link then wait for AI come up with answer(that are often not ever correct). At least for non-trivial things.
If Google's featured snippets didn't destroy blogging maybe generative AI won't either (for now at least...)

It seems very difficult, I started 3 months ago, I appear in about ten SERPs and the best position is 30th..

Your blog just won't be at the top of the list,

you can make your community see your post every day.

That's all.

Google can't kill the community that wants to see special content, it just kills the competition on general/liked content from them.

I think it will be difficult for small blog sites to compete anymore with the development of tiktok, twitter
